Hi all! I am new to the diamond world (however, I have been doing research for over a month now and feel quite a bit educated....however "honest" opinions are always a welcome treat since I cannot even start to compare myself to someone who is qualified in the diamond area). My husband and I are looking to upgrade my center stone on my wedding ring for our 10 year anniversary (YAY)! I currently have a center stone of .50 H SI1 (and numerous begets and rounds around the center stone.....fyi, I am also upgrading the smaller round stones around the center stone, hence to why I opted for a .92 and not over a 1.0 or even a 1.5...it would have just gotten to be "to much" for my finger). I found a stone online (wow, never thought I would take that route....anytoes...) I found a loose diamond thorough Union Diamond it's stats are listed below: Please, can someone educated in the "diamond world" give me their advice! I could go on and on about my research specifics, but I think I will wait and see if I even get any responses to this post first..teehee. :)
UPDATE: I understand about the certification of a stone, but my only hang up was that this stone (upon all my research and speaking w/UD rep's) was that this stone actually seems like a good find for the price. I am only looking to spend $5k on the total update of the ring (my local jewler quoted me $2500 for the small rounds, set, channel band made w/old stones and necklace from old center stone......hence I only have $2500 to work w/for my center stone and of course I am hunting down the best diamond for my buck...).

HI, and welcome to PS!

Actually, we usually steer people to either GIA or AGS certs because they generally are more reliable. In addition, in order to know about the cut of that stone, we'd have to know the crown and pavilion angles. I personally wouldn't consider an EGL SI2, because it could be more like I clarity.

I'd recommend using this search tool because it should present you with some better choices. Put in excellent-excellent for cut and check only GIA and AGS for labs.
