Hello all,

This is my first topic. I just bought a 3-stone ring to my wife, with the following:

5.18 x 5.15 x 3.03 / I-1 / E / Good cut / 0.5 ct.
4.72 x 4.67 x 2.67 / SI-2 / F/ Good cut / 0.35 ct.
4.66 x 4.62 x 2.71 / SI-2 / G/ Good cut / 0.35 ct.

The diamonds are Canadian diamond with a certificate of origin (which states a $5,900.00 replacement value). We paid about $4,500.00.

My wife just noticed some imperfections in the biggest one and that's why I start researching.

Since this is "our" first diamond ring I was wondering what you guys have to say about it? After all, leaving and learning right?

Thanks

Alex

Note: Yeee.... I didn't gave her an engagement ring because we lived in Brazil before, and it is quite dangerous to use jewelry down there ;)

It is an I1, it will probably have visible inclusions.

What are the crown and pavilion angles, table and depth of the stones? If you have them.

Is the ring returnable? If not, then you probably need to just enjoy the ring and come back here BEFORE you buy the next one.

However, if it can be returned, do it, and we can help you. You''d want excellent cut and probably not I1 clarity. I1 does usually mean there are visible inclusions.

Hi stone, Hi seeker,

Well; I posted all the information I have. Anyway, I think I cannot return it anymore, but I do appreciate the help. My wife really like it and I am sure she will be glad to get a new one sooner or later.

I''m sure she will enjoy her ring for years to come. Sometimes people are hung up on numbers and stats, but if she just loves sparkly things (and you). she will probably be perfectly content. Sometimes too much jewelry knowledge is a BAD thing!

Hi Nitche,

If she just noticed it, does that mean she''s been wearing it? If so, and if you find that you cannot return the ring at this point, just have her keep that sucker as clean as possible and hopefully the inclusions won''t be *as* noticeable. What may be happening is that daily dirt and oil may be bringing the I1 inclusions out more than necessary. Give that a try. It may help.

I agree with Barbara, keep it as clean as you can - also there are I1''s out there which do not show visible inclusions, I have one myself and saw a real beauty yesterday where it took me ages to find the inclusion!
