First Diamond Purchase-- Help me spend $7K

Of course its an engagement ring for my sweetheart. I''ve been reading through the material on this great site and checking out the rocks at Amazon.com, Blue Nile, eBay, etc. But its a bit overwhelming to me-- I like to analyze every aspect and its overload.

My gal actually prefers a nontraditional ring-- so a nice fancy yellow or brown or even clear rough cut would do the trick. I want to get a platinum band without any diamonds on it, maybe a three-stone setting with two small side diamonds next to a larger square or round diamond.

if you want color check out diamonds by lauren, they have plenty of cool stuff within your price range.

Maybe check out GreenKarat, their stones aren't necessarily the ideal cut wonders we usually push here on PS, but they have some cool, organic, funky stuff. Also look into Niwaka. They do mostly solitaires, but really really cool solitaires.

ETA: This low color OEC might be a nice choice. Congnac center halo. Personally, I'd get this Daniel K asscher w/traps. There's also a pave DK solitaire 1.22ct for 7K on the nose.
