Haroo :)

As the title states I made an appointment to visit a photog this week never ever have I done this before - any words of advice, what do I ask, look for etc...

Forgive my inarticuletness I am so buggered right now

and if your interested this is the photog - from the blog his photo''s to me look amazing http://www.studioimpressionsphotography.com/blog/wedding-portfolio-01/

I would ask to see an entire portfolio from one event - it will give you a better idea of what all your wedding pictures will look like rather than seeing the best of the best on the website.

Also ask about emergency plans, both for equipment and illness/emergency. Find out how much time your package covers, whether they will shoot with an assistant, and which particular photographer will be shooting your event.

Make sure you are comfortable around them, if you don''t like them for whatever reason you may not be able to be relaxed in your photos around them.

Good luck! The website is quite impressive so I can see why you are excited to meet with them!

Being comfy around them was our biggest thing. They''ll be sharing some pretty intimate moments with you, so we made sure we actually liked the people. The first photog we met with did amazing work, the price was excellent, but he was a bit of a creeper, so we passed.

Good luck!!

Thanks girls :)

The link I posted is to the blog of the photog we are meeting there are a few the chick we met at a wedding expo she was lovely but haven''t seen her pics and his pics from the website look unreal hopefully he is nice we already ruled out a few cause they were rude

Any other suggestions welcome :)

I would definitely ask to see a full wedding from the photographer to get an idea of what a full days worth of shots will look like. Anyone can get a few good shots in a day, but it is important that you love the look and style of even their ''average'' pictures.

I don''t know if it was important for you, but it was for us, but we only considered photographers that offered all digital negatives on disk as part of the package.

Ask about the time included in the package if its not unlimited. Also, ask what the back up plan is in case the photographer is unable to preform at the wedding for some reason. (I asked this question, always thinking this will never happen to us, but it did in fact just happen for our Day of Coordinator, so it is good to know they have a plan in place!)

Here is a list of questions that was useful for me:

Will you personally be photographing the wedding?
Will you bring an assistant? Who is the assistant? If your assistant no longer works with you in a year, what will you do?

What is your experience, background, and education? Any formal classroom training?
Are you a full-time photographer?
How long have you been a wedding photographer, and how many weddings have you photographed?
Have you handled events of my size and type before?
How would you describe your style?
How are your photos different from those of other photographers?
Who is your favorite photographer (not necessarily wedding photographer)?
Is this recent work you are showing?
Have you ever been published?

Do you do film (analog) or digital photography?
How many pictures do you expect to take?
Will you take formal portraits and group shots?
Will you take detail / still-life shots?
Can we provide you with a list of required shots?

Do you provide a written contract or guarantee?
What are your hours of service?
At what time do you arrive to set up?
How will you be dressed?
What is your equipment?
Do you bring backup equipment with you?
Do you shoot in RAW format (if digital)?
Do you process your images (e.g. color correction, black-and-white/sepia conversion (if digital))?

Do we get the negatives / high-definition originals?
Do we get the proofs?
What is your turnaround time?

What are your packages?
What is the deposit, and when is it due?
When is the final payment due?
Are taxes and service charges included in the price?
Are all travel expenses included in the price?
What is the overtime charge?
Are there any additional charges not mentioned?
What are the refund/cancellation terms?
