My diamond usually becomes dark but danced beautifully in diamond jewelry stores, as do all other diamonds under diamond jewelry store lightings.
However, yesterday I accompanied a friend to a jewelry store selling primarily yellow gold. The lighting is different, white light, not the type of lighting usually found in diamond jewelry stores. In that lighting, my diamond was throwing red, yellow, blue, orange etc. The SA helping my friend saw my diamond and commented that my diamond was lovely and colorful. A 2nd SA heard her and walked over to look at my ring but she didn't comment.
My friend couldn't find anything to her liking and we turned to leave the store. We weren't even out of the store yet when we heard the 2nd SA telling the 1st SA that my diamond must be fake as real diamonds can't be so colorful. My friend was upset on my behalf and wanted to go back in to tell her that my diamond is real. I pulled her back as there was no point in doing so.
In fact, I felt bad for the 2nd SA as it indicated that she didn't have experience with well-cut rounds. I was wondering if SAs working in diamond jewelry stores know how well-cut H&As look like or would they react the same way as she did should they see my diamond in white light and not diamond jewelry store lightings.
