Finding a mount for a 1.7 carat diamond

I''ve been lurking, admiring many beautiful rings on this site, and I finally get to have oneof my own. Problem is, I don''t know what kind of mount to choose for a round diamond that weighs 1.7 carats. Do I go with something simple..that I see so often, or something a little more unique? If you could mount this diamond into any setting which would you pick? Pics would be greatly appreciated, or perhaps you have a 1.7ish stone that you love in your mounting and would like to share? Thanks
 
I take the attitude that it''s less important what particular features figure in a ring''s design, and far more important that they are executed as simply and organically as possible. Simple shapes and forms help ensure timelessness. Of course, this can come at the cost of appealing to the current fashion. At the end, you just have to strike a balance appropriate to the wearer''s sensibilities.
 
I LOVE Lynn B''s ring..so I can purchase that setting from Whiteflash..without having to send the diamond to him to mount? I don''t live in the US, so that makes things a tad difficult.
 
I believe you could order the setting from them and have it mounted elsewhere. You''d need to check with them to make sure, though. You would need to supply the exact measurements of your stone so they could properly make the head. Send them an email and ask.

I know! It wasn''t there back when I ordered my ring, but I noticed it a few days ago for sale. I''ve been waiting for an opportunity to suggest it to someone! Then along comes beau13!

If you want something a little more simple, there''s a plain solitaire so the focus is all on your beautiful diamond. I love this WF Classic Tiffany-Style Setting!
 
I wouldn''t do it unless you can send the stone to them to mount. If you have someone else do it and there is a problem, you''d be out of luck. Those two settings are probably my favorites at WF (Classic Tiffany and Harmony).
