So, I live uncomfortably near the 7-11. All that candy....Anyway, the woman who works there is very sweet. Her name is Dorothy. When I was dressed up for the doc in my best diamonds yesterday, she was oohing and aahing over my James Allen DBTY solitaire. She said she'd love a diamond necklace like that. She has a budget of just $400, since she sends money back to her family in Ghana. Can we find her something? I don't think the diamond size matters - she indicated she'd just like a small one as long as it was a diamond in the DBTY solitaire setting. All her jewellery is yellow gold. Any ideas?

I would post in the pre-loved section with a WTB request. You might get something there. Anyone with a small second hand diamond under $200 would fit the bill. Then all you have to do is find a local person to set it for under $200.

I did a quick search on eBay and found a few that might fit the bill.

This one looks promising, but you'd need to ask the seller for a face-up pic of the diamond. (Don't know why they just took shots of the pendant from the back):

Another one (auction, unfortunately):

This one is a movable bezel pendant instead of a stationary bezel, with dog-ears, attached to the chain (not sure if it matters, but it looks similar from the front):

Lastly, this one is white gold:

I'll see if I can find anything else! :)

The other day I saw someone wearing a "DBTY"-style necklace that consisted of just the fine chain and a single, tiny, bezel-set diamond. I'm talking tiny! And it still caught the light and looked great. It might be worthwhile calling IDJ to see what $400 would get you along those lines. A single is definitely worthwhile, but you might also be able to get three stations with that budget.

I posted a wtb thread over in preloved. CM had a nice one but its so hard for me to pull the trigger after my air conditioning just broke, so I'd ask about it. It's really pretty. Just not old timing for me to buy a gift (yes I know I would have still bought that spinel over in CS but that was a one time loss in judgment ). Anyways, worth lookin into. :wavey:

I've got the Tiffany version of that which was under $400 with tax. The diamond is tiny but looks quite substantial (in context of the carat weight and price, combined with it being Tiffany) the chain is sterling silver so that keeps the price down too
