I saw a 3/4 and 1 ct J-K ring at Sears. It was at Sears from their Simply Love collection. I couldn''t see any color. Do you think it was the light or is that normal? I thought that you would be able to see some color in a K stone.

maybe you are not that color sensitive. Also color can be seen less in a smaller weight stone as well.

Color is extremely hard to detect in jewelry store lighting. You need to be in natural light to really see color.

......and even then you may not notice much depending on it''s cut. I don''t think K is really THAT low and people often expect the colour to be much more obvious then it is.

Ditto.
I have a K, and how white it looks definitely depends on the light.
In bright sunshine and in restaurants or stores with halogen or spotlighting, I don''t see any color at all.
On cloudy overcast days or in flourescent lighting, I can see a little yellow.
In my yellow kitchen with flourescent lighting, I see more yellow.
I think b/c mine''s a pear, you''ll see more tint than in a RB. A very well cut RB will look white in most lights, and color isn''t that discernable unless directly compared with a higher colored stone (IMHO), or unless you have very color-sensitive eyes.

Oh, and beware of a ''j/k'' grading... it''s one or the other.

Ditto this, to me some of the lower colours are to quote a famous paint slogan of years before '' white- not quite....", but K to me is still white, just a softer creamy white or antique white as I sometimes call them.

I agree. Unfortunately the stone was marked as J-K in the store. The sign also stated that the cut was "round" . Yikes!

My Mom has a round 1.98ct OEC and it is VVS1 and K in color, I cannot see the color from the top, but when I look at it from the side in regular lighting I can see a slight yellow to it, but I never noticed it till she told it was K in color, it is a stunning ring
