Wow, that looks gorgeous Phoenix! What are your plans for it?

Oooh, it''s pretty!

She''s a beauty! How you gonna mount her? I always like the white diamonds next to the FY to show
off the beautiful buttery color.

She looks beautiful! I can''t wait to see what you do with her.

Beautiful stone! Glad you were able to get some pics of it. I was thinking about your post the other day when you mentioned the jeweler was having trouble locating yellow melee. He gave you a price on adding it, but he can''t find it? You''d think he''d have to find it before quoting you a price! My jeweler won''t even give me a "quick guess" when I say I want something because he doesn''t want give me a price and find out he was too low!

Anyway, I hope he can find the melee or maybe you were able to get in touch with simply splendid''s jeweler for a price.

If you still have trouble I can e-mail the jeweler where I got my ring and maybe they can give me the name of the manufacturer who made my ring if that would help!

Have you decided if you''re happy with the size of the stone yet? It''s such a pretty shape and color!

Hello, this is a beauty indeed.

One point to note is that Canary Diamond will recommend that the fancy yellow stone be set in yellow gold (can''t remember whether it is 18kt, 22kt or 24kt). The rest of the ring can be in white gold but the centre fancy yellow diamond will be set in yellow gold. It brings out the beauty of the yellow diamond. At one point, they have lots or fancy yellows, now they have around 10-20 pieces and if they are still there when you are back in Singapore, you can always ask to take a look at how they set the fancy yellow diamonds.

That is a yummy stone!

Thank you Beechezz, Ellen, tyty, catmom, lvnut, simplysplendid and tlh for your kind compliments.

Beechezz, I'm hoping to have it set like lvnut's yummy yellow diamond ring:

lvnut, thanks again for your kind offer. I think I should be ok though. lvnut, I think my local jeweller was just giving me an estimate. They usually do that. I'm guessing they must have based the price of the yellow melee on white melee. Anyway, I guess it doesn't really matter now since they still can't locate yellow melee (which is actually quite surprising given yellow melee diamonds are not so uncommon these days). Oh well...

Oh, and lvnut, I've decided to keep the stone, esp. after all the nice compliments from the lovely ladies of PS!

. This was a present from hubby and I think it may hurt his feelings if I went and upgraded it. Besides, we're trying to save quite furiously, both for my 5ct
3.gif
and also to build up our savings and retirement funds some more - after having lived apart for several months and having two sets of expenses (can you imagine paying a mortgage and a rent and paying two times for everything else?) - it's nice to be able to feel a bit more flush. I think a few hundred dollars or even one or two thousand dollars here and there are ok but several more thousands of dollars, I don't think hubby would take too kindly to that!!!

SS, I called and spoke to Bonne yesterday. She should be able to give me a quotation by tomorrow. I'm quite excited!

Thanks again.

Hi, I will call her to ask her to quote a good price. Generally regulars and recommended customers get a slightly better quote than a walk in (or rather, call in in your case). Hope it will help.

oooooohhh that''s looks yummy

Hi, I forgot to mention this..

I understand that you are looking for a 5 carater. You might want to speak to Bonne and give her the specs you want and ask for a quote. Canary''s prices are quite good and they are one reason why I don''t purchase over the internet.

Thanks again.

Glad you''re going to keep it is a gorgeous stone! It will seem so much bigger once it is mounted and especially with the double halo.

I also wanted to let you know that when we found my ring, they had another one with the same setting but a 2 carat square radiant instead of the 3 carat heart shaped one I ended up with. At the time, I had a 2.33 carat yellow square radiant with a gold bezel around the diamond and a halo with milgrain around that. I was amazed that the 2 carat with the double halo looked so much bigger and sparklier than my ring! I think it looked sparklier since the halo is all prong set so there''s not much of a metal look.

I guess my point is that you and I share a love big rings and I think you will be surprised to see how much bigger it will look once it''s done! Even more unbelievable is that I told my husband I would be fine with buying the 2 carat since it really looked so much nicer (and bigger overall) than my 2.33 carat ring. But he said he didn''t want to trade in a diamond for one that was smaller. Gotta love him! But I sure could have saved him some money!

Sounds like you are well on your way to the 5 carat! I cannot even fathom having two sets of expenses! You must feel like you''ve won the lottery now that you are only running one household!

wow that''s so pretty..can''t wait to see it set

Yummmmm.... It''s fantastic!! I can''t wait to see what you do with it!

I like the shape. but uh, on my screen, all the pics look orangy red and it''s impossible to see the color

Looks like a very nice stone!

Hi there SS, I called Bonne again today and she gave me a quote of SGD2,800 for a double row of halo's of 1 pointers and also white melee on the band. Does that sound reasonable to you?

I also enquired about setting a gemstone (though I haven't quite decided yet which one to go for) with an approx dimensions of 10x8 (or sthg like that, I really can't remember what I told her). I said I'd like to give them my existing 4 pointers for the band and she said she'd do the halo with 3 pointers and the quote for that is SGD1,700.

Thanks for calling Bonne to ask her for a good price, and thank you very much for everything you've done.

Thanks. I think I might just mention it in passing only. I won't be able to buy it for quite a while yet and wouldn't want them to search for one for me right away.

Anyway, how competitive are their prices and the cut of their RB's? I was thinking of going back to BGD or JA when the time comes (btw, for anyone who might be interested, I've spoken to Jim recently and have also apologized for my previous thread which is now deleted. I really didn't mean to harm JA's or Jim's name. He's a real gentleman and I appreciate our biz relationship).

lvnut,

Your hubby is a real sweetie, a keeper for sure
1.gif
.

I really hope that my teeny FY cushion would look substantially larger in the setting. I DO love BIG bling, which is really funny when you think about it, cos I'm only 5'2" and weigh 105lbs!
2.gif
. I think it must be my subconscious trying to use bling to make up for the smaller stature!!
3.gif

Yeah, I tell ya!! It was rather tight there for a while! I'm quite happy to see $$$$ going into the bank accounts!
1.gif
and my hubby is even more happy when I told him that I'm done buying diamonds, well...at least for the time being anyway...until it's time for the 5ct whopper, that is!!

Oh lvnut, I meant to ask you also, who did you use to halo yr GORGEOUS 4ct RB? Was the price quite reasonable, if you don''t mind my asking? There are so many beautiful halo''s on here and yours and Beacon''s definitely come to mind. I was thinking I could have my 3ct halo''ed for the time being, to try and tame the DSS demon for a while, until her big sister comes

Thank you, Elle. I don't think it's yr screen. It's my lousy picture-taking! I've tried so many times already and the pics just won't come out properly. Must be something to do with the lousy Shanghai weather too!

Really beautiful.. I believe daytime sunshine shots are in order ;)
Thank you, sweetie. Unfortunately, Mr Sun won''t come out to play in Shanghai! He''s hidden behind all the clouds and smog!!
7.gif

I think next time I''m in SG, I''ll try and take some sunshine shots. Hopefully, by that time, it''ll be shots of the ring in a beautiful double halo setting!
