Well D&T don''t let your heart melt.
You''ll get blood all over your clothes.

Do what I did.
Buy a tiny pink EC diamond and a pair of these.

lol....

You know, I'm wondering if it will look like my white diamonds in terms of the rainbow of colors it gives off in places like Home Depot and Costco, which some of the most fun diamond lighting.

I walk around those stores staring at my hand and bumping into people with my cart.

Oh, and then there is full sun, and full sun but under a tree . . . .

Will the colors all be skewed towards purplish pink?

Can someone with a colored and a white diamond clue me in please?

Thank you.

I''m sure a few folks here know already, but let''s not spill the beans.

After the stork delivers her Monday or Tuesday I''m taking her to the hospital to be checked out and if all''s well I''ll spill the beans.

Okay?

Ok, but I think I know now. :P

If you know . . . ZIP IT!

OH MAN. - Tracking a package on Sunday is torture.

They say call back on Monday if you want to know which day it will be delivered.

I think I need to go to a movie or something.
Maybe some Pinto Noir will help.
Waiting for a pink diamond is not pleasant.

a deep pavilion darkens the color of the area inside the blue.

In a shallow cut all the color will show up on the ends and little in the center.

Thanks Karl.

Do you mean in a DEEP cut? You wrote shallow.

I DO have a money-back guarantee so I'll look for that when considering all the characteristics of this stone.

I appreciate your expertise.
Maybe that smaller,0.23 ct, Fancy Intense Pink, SI1 is better-cut.

It sure is less expensive, but faces up larger.

Oh and in my stone the ends look deeper in color, not the middle.
Isn't this the opposite of what you said?

Oh, and isn't dark color better in a pink? - after all dark pink is RED, the most expensive color.

the ends will always be darker no matter how you cut an EC but by cutting a deeper pavilion you bring more color to the center.
In a shallow cut less color will show in the center.
The above post is worded right.

Whoa! No Wai!!

So, in a fancy-colored EC, deeper is a GOOD thing.
So what I thought was a minus is actually a plus.

Yippeeee.

So, my little pink rock ROCKS even MORE !.

Cool!
Thanks.

Karl do you have a ray-tracing diagrams for the EC oriented to show the long side, and the short side?

Karl do you have a ray-tracing diagrams for the EC oriented to show the long side, and the short side?

yes

I hesitate to put out computer models of EC''s because they vary so much.

Here is one side to side light path in the center as you can see it is in and out.
So you can see how a deeper stone will pick up more color.

ECsidetosideCenterLP.jpg

Yes, a deeper stone will present a longer light path through pink material.

Plus the long side will have a longer path than the shorter side, hence more body color at the ends - as you said.

Cool!

I'm feeling even better about the stone I bought.

Here is a end to end light path

What I am having trouble getting is a side to side light path near the ends.
That tells the rest of the story.

endtoendEClightpath.jpg

This isn''t perfect but it gives you an idea of how crazy the light path can get near the ends.
Some rays are going side to side and some end to end and taking multiple bounces.

endsLPonEC.jpg

The more times the light bounces the more body color the light travels through and the more body color it picks up at the ends.

The bottom line: A deeper emerald cut is better for fancy colors because the depth of the color of the center will better approach the increased depth of color of the ends.

Hey I think you're right Karl.

Here is that runner up with a depth of 68.4 %.
Notice how much more pale the color is in the middle compared to the deeper color at the ends.

a1972_di_image_7e80f.jpg

Compare that to mine, which has a depth of 83.6%.

The depth of color in the middle IS closer to the depth of color at the ends.

You're pretty smart, Karl.

Drooling in public is so undignified... please excuse me for a long while.

Gprgeous!

As I know the waiting can be nothing short of torture, I hope that the beautiful little girl will be delivered early tomorrow!

This stone is absolutely BEAUTIFUL!! I love it! I can''t wait to see real life photos once you get her. I''d also be very interested in the vendor.

Lucky you, your diamond is one of the ashtray-sized amount that they manage to milk out of the Kimberley every year! What a special stone.

FWIW here was the third runner up:

0.22 ct
Color orgin: Natural - Even
Fancy Vivid Purplish-Pink Asscher
You did well to pass this one up. Not because it isn''t pretty, but Asscher cuts need a good amount of weight/size to fully appreciate the cut. The pattern just would have been totally lost at this size.

I think your stone is just gorgeous!! We''ll want lots of pics.

Hi Moh10- Congratulations! Comparing the pictures, it looks like you made the right right decision between that one and the runner ups. It looks gorgeous. I''m sure you will love it.
You have one big problem though........

Once you start, it kind of like potato chips, it''s hard to have just one!

I hope it arrives early today for you. It''s going to be a long day until you have it in hand...

Thanks guys but tracking says it won't be here till Tuesday morning.
That's TOOOMOOORROOOOOOOOW!
