Hey Everyone!

After months and months of learning and researching, i am finally moving forward with the ER purchase. I owe my education to all of the great people here at PS! I really appreciate the community, and have turned several friends on to the site.

I am purchased a Precision Set FlushFit ring, with channel-set round stones in the band. Awesome.

I am getting ready to purchase the diamond to pair with it, and wanted some last minute advise. What''s everyone''s thoughts on the following:

1.03 H&A
H
SI1
AGS Cut Grade: Ideal
Optical Symmetry: Superior
Polish: Ideal
Symmetry: Ideal
Fluorescence: None
Culet: None
Table: 56.60%
Depth: 61.70%
Crown: 35.00°
Pavilion: 40.80°

Width: 6.45mm
Length: 6.48mm
Depth: 3.99mm

What are your thoughts on this? It''s on the high (very) side of my budget, which is about 6500. Does anyone have other suggestions?

Thanks for all the help, I can''t wait to get the ring!

Looks like a killer diamond.

Are you sure you want to make this kind of commitment though? Getting married? I mean, you''re talking about a lifetime.

How much do you like this woman?

oy, richard.

Looks like a beautiful stone based on the numbers. But there are other options if this is really pushing your budget. Is the $6500 your budget for the just the stone or stone and setting?

It looks like a great diamond, maybe you could find an excellent cut in an I colour or eyeclean SI2 clarity which might help the budget if such a stone was available.

Rich, thanks for the feedback on the stone. The second comment was kinda harsh and yes, i HAVE thought about it....

All, that is the budget for just the diamond. Any other diamond suggestions are welcome!

Thanks

Just testing ya for fun. Congratulations on finding a woman who makes you want to marry her. It''s a good thing.

Thanks for the awesome suggestions swingirl.

I am working with GOG to decide between the following

http://www.goodoldgold.com/diamond/4822 (1.03ct H SI1 Round H&A: which is the diamond in the top post)
and
http://www.goodoldgold.com/diamond/4088/ (1.01ct I SI1 Round H&A: one of the suggestions)

The other 2 are nice as well, esp the 1.12ct I VS2 (how does that compare to the above 2?) . I have placed the above 2 on hold with GOG while i decide (so the purchase is that close!!).

One thing that i am having a hard time justifing (to myself) is the difference in price between the 2 diamonds above. Its about $1400.00! I think i may be too concerned with the "numbers and specs" at this point and need to trust the visual inspection of GOG to help guide me.

What are you thoughts on the differences?

Thanks again!!!

They are both gorgeous, it depends on your priorities - I would firstly check that both of these are eyeclean to your standards, then go from there.

The differences in the stones are pretty subtle, especially once it is set. Personally I could live with a lower anything as long as the cut was gorgeous. And I''d spend the $1400 on the setting and/or band. But it all boils down to what you can live with. Either way if you are getting one of those stones from GOG you won''t be disappointed.
