After a lot of lurking (and probably making a fool of myself when posting) I finally purchased a diamond. Here are all of the specs below. Let me know your thoughts.

Round Brilliant Cut, 1.51 ct
Measurements: 7.50 - 7.47 x 4.40 mm
Total Depth: 58.8%
Table Width: 57%
Crown Height: 13%
Pavillion Depth: 42%
Girdle: Medium, Faceted
Polish: Very Good
Symmetry: Very Good
Culet: Pointed
Clarity: VS2
Color: K
Fluoresence: None
HCA: 2.7 Light Return - Good, Fire- Excellent, Scintillation - Excellent, Spread - Excellent
Total Price: $3,800

Overall, size was the main priority and being that my budget was limited I knew I had to sacrifice color. I actually enjpy the warmth of a K color stone, and I know that my girlfriend does not mind it either. I wanted a completely eye clean diamond that was well cut and at least 1.5 carats and this stone met all of those requirements. It also has a huge spread for a 1.51 ct stone. The stone arrives tomorrow and I''m really excited! Please let me know what you think about the deal based on the specs/price. Thank you everyone for your help!

Check for obstruction issue with that proportion, that is the stone might go dark when viewed closer than 10in.

This video shows how it looks like. http://diamondscope.pricescope.com/?src=Head_Obstruction_1.wmv

I thought you were going to get images and post them here?

Which lab graded the stone?
Ditto.

And if you haven't seen very many decent cut diamonds, I'd take it to a place that (you know) carries well cut stones, like an AGS0. See if yours sparkles as well, or at least close. In a stone with proportions like your stone, contrast scintillation "can" be affected.

This diamond is likely to show obstruction, to test for this bend over the diamond as if to admire it, if the diamond visibly darkens that is obstruction in action, this is an effect caused by your head or body blocking the light to the stone. If you see this and it doesn't bother you then thats fine if you have other priorities and like the diamond, but just so you are aware this can be an issue with some shallow combos. Also the spread is about where it should be for 1.5 cts. Ditto Ellen in comparing as many different diamonds as you can to see how this one compares and that contrast scintillation might be affected. But do compare it to some others and also give it a good test drive by checking it out in as many different lighting environments as you can.

Its EGL graded I take it? If so you might want to consider getting an independant appraisal before any return policy is up.

Let us know how you get on but do some comparing and inspect the diamond as carefully as you can to make sure you are happy with it.

Yes Lorelei, it is an EGL graded stone.

I received the stone today and I could not be more happy with my purchase.

Luckily, there does not seem to be any obstruction issue at all. In fact, I have not been able to find anything wrong with the stone at all. It is exactly what I had been hoping for. Being a K color, there is a little warmth, but I enjoy that and it faces up really nicely! The diamond is very brilliant and fiery.

I''m in the process of trying to snap some decent pictures, but of course my camera batteries just died so I need to grab some new ones before I can post. I''ll be taking the stone in tomorrow for a full appraisal just to verify all of the details.

That''s good. :)

Thank you very much Stone-Cold...you are actually the one who pointed me in the direction of Union Diamond with the links you provided in my previous post. I appreciate it!

No prob. Glad it works out for you. :)

Lorelei, thank you very much as well. Your advice has been helpful in all of my posts. I do appreciate your time and effort.

My stone may not be to perfect standards, but as Stone-Cold stated, it does work for me and I am very happy with my final purchase!

Thanks again and I will definitely be posting pictures after the diamond is set.

Glad to help and like I said even if it does show obstruction and it doesn''t bother you thats great! Not as if we walk around with our heads bent over our diamonds all the time now is it??
