I'd like to thank Martin Flyer and my local jeweler (not sure if I want to call him out by name simply because of some of the comments made about his handling of this situation that are mostly unwarranted) for all of their help in handling this.

We have returned the Flyer ring to them, it is in fact a damaged stone or a pit inclusion, either way, not something I am ok with. They didn't give me any grief and were very apologetic. 99% of the jewelry buyers on earth would not mind or notice, as many of you who are equally nitpicky and I guess are forgetting your nitpickiness, were so quick to point out, but since we both saw it immediately...it's kind of annoying to me. It was not mind-clean.

Either way, the refund has been processed and was hand delivered to my office today, as well as my stones from the SP band we had reset, as he can reuse the mounting for maybe colored stones, and the stones are really of no value to anyone else.

It's been a VERY LONG and VERY frustrating experience for me, and really just about every ring situation is. My standards are obviously ridiculously high, so I set myself up for disappointment every time. Right now, my Vatche is in the safe, and I am pondering selling my diamond back to Jon at GOG. I just don't want to look at or deal with any jewelry for myself right now. Oogling other people's stuff, not a problem. Just don't want it for myself right now. I am wearing my plain band, and that is fine. When I get my neck tattoo touched up I might have something done on my finger, but maybe not. I am concerned it won't age very well...

Either way, thanks to all of those who were supportive and understanding.

Well the chapter has come to a close. It sounds like you are content with the decision, so being 'mind clean' on that front must be a relief for you. I'm glad the refund process was quick and non-confrontational.

Glad it worked out in a favourable way, Ame. :))

I was following the other thread and am really pleased you were able to get your refund, ame. I'm sure it's a huge relief! :))

(I do have to admit, though, when reading through this post, I had to chuckle when you mentioned your tattoo. If you're very nitpicky about your jewellery, which can be removed any old time, I can only imagine how picky you are about your tattoos, which you can't exactly return or exchange! They must be stunning! )

Well, my neck is intended to not be totally "perfect". It's from a sketch. And my hair covers it unless it's up. It's just way faded from years of wearing my hair up in the sun without putting sunblock on it. But I also can't see it so I don't care! The others are good enough, I do know that skin is hard to get super sharp lines in sometimes. Not everyone's skin takes ink well.

I am glad I have my refund, though I will admit, due to circumstances beyond my control, it was not as expiditious as I would have liked. But I have it, it's done and I am happy for this to end. I just need a break from this stuff. Maybe when I get over this stuff, Ill look at antiques. But right now seeing a plain band is fine with me!

Very glad to hear that you got a refund ame. I've been following your saga, too. A plain band sounds great.

i'm glad the situation is resolved for you. Now you can move on.

Glad you can put that behind you, Ame! When you feel like looking again, you will have more luck I think by buying pieces already made so you can simply return them within the return period if there is something you don't like. Custom can be risky, and there's nothing wrong with playing it safe. I actually prefer seeing a finished piece before buying myself!

I still to this day don't have a wedding ring, DH and I thought that we would have 'rings' tattooed on our fingers as well, but were warned against it by several artist because they have a tendency to 'blow out', and I wanted to be sure that the lines would remain sharp and thin for a long time. :(( I'll be interested to hear what your artist tells you and see pics if you decide to go ahead with it.

Exactly. For right now, hopefully out of sight will be out of mind.

I'm glad it is resolved.

I am very glad that it has been resolved and that you are at peace with the situation.

Ame

I am another one who waited to see if this whole stiutaion would be resolved to your satisfaction. I was so disappointed when it wasn't. :nono:

I know, in my life, there are some thing I can can live with and some I just cannot. This was just one of your cannots.

I really hope one day, you get a set that will thrill you every time you wear it. Give it some time.

I also figure that a bit like myself, you actually have to see the finished product before knowing if it is for you. I am NOT a good candidate for custom!

Good luck. ,I for one, will be excited to go on your next jewellery journey, with you, when you are ready.

:wavey:

Glad to hear you were able to get this resolved Ame. Are you still thinking of getting a channel-set band?

Thanks everyone...

Right now, honestly, Im thinking NOTHING. The thought has repeatedly crossed my mind to sell my studs, sell my vatche, and sell my stone back to Jon and walk completely away from jewelry for myself. Ill still make you all miserable here, but no desire to have any jewelry right now. Just wearing my plain band and that's it. I do not have it in me.

don't know what to say abt it... but anyway it's great that you are fine with your decision and get the refund. good luck

Getting back to basics. Flushing out all the bad ju ju .... clearing the air. Letting go. All sounds like a great plan to me! There's something so clean & simple & classy about a plain band. All meaning, no fuss. Having room for new things to come in - when/if the time is right.

Whew. "bout time! :twirl:

Hi Ame, I am glad you received your refund and relieved for you that this is over. I am sure in time you will find exactly what you want and in the meantime you can enjoy a rest from this ordeal and the potential of what you might choose in the future!

Glad you'll be able to put all of this to rest for awhile, Ame. It sure seemed like an exhausting journey for you :snore:

Ame, I'm so glad you finally have some resolution to all of this. I think taking a step back is a really good idea.

Please don't do anything drastic! If, after a few weeks, you still feel that your other jewellery stresses you more than it pleases you, then it's probably time to re-consider, but for now... let yourself cool off a bit! Have DH hide it if you don't want to think about it.

Agree! While I love jewelry and adorn whatever's got space (within reason), my well off friend (who has a lot of gorgeous jewelry) just wears a simple gold band. Maybe it's because I know she has money, but this reminds me of the well traveled person who flies first class. When the flight attendant asks what they want to drink, they always just ask for water, while the first time first classer is ordering as many glasses of champagne, etc, they can get. It's just quiet, elegant confidence in knowing you already are *it*. ::)

I think this is said very nicely! Looking forward to whatever you decide to do!

I have a radical suggestion to add to the possible clearing o' house ..... the loupes. Get rid of the loupes. Live loupe-free! The air is magical here!

L.L.F.F.!!!!!!!!! (Live Loupe-Free FOREVAH!!!!)

Girl you are asking for miracles. But I agree, loupey free is loopy free!

Miracles is right....I actually use them for print work too, so I can't totally eliminate them!

I will say this, out of sight is out of mind. Last night I thought about it but not for too long, and I was going through a pile of wedding magazines with ads every other page, or divine images of stuff (grace ormonde!) and it really only concerned me for a second. The e-ring is in the safe. I haven't gone in there to mess with it, or look at it. I am calm and fine, money is in the bank and my "jets" are cooled. I am trying to funnel my free time into cleaning my pig stye of a house.

I am glad you are wiping the slate clean and taking a break from jewelry for now. It has given you so much stress over the years. I hope you feel relieved.
