Been looking for quite some time and would like opinions on these two stones please. Both stones are pretty similar, but just wondering whether anybody can see anything that stands out in the specs. HCA is excellent on both. Unfortunately, neither have ASET or Ideal-Scope images available. Any input would be greatly appreciated!!

I was told by somebody that the 55/80 star/lower half combination in stone 1 is not good because any asymmetry would be exaggerated and contrast pattern would be poor. Can anybody verify that thought?

I have not heard anything regarding your last question.

I would choose number 1. It's numbers look better to me and the diameter is larger, too. However, I do not recommend buying a diamond without images.

Thanks for the response. That particular diamond appears on websites of multiple vendors, but none of them could send me any images... what issues could exist without images? I guess what I'm asking is what can looking at a diamond do that numbers can't tell us?

Hey justwong, I feel like I'm in the same boat as you. I've ordered a .84ct round but am waiting for it to be delivered. I've seen ASET and IS images but I can't help but feel anxious without actually seeing it. All signs point to good performance but it won't be ideal I'm sure. But, the perfect stone and ring according to my intended is going to be the one I give her. Best of luck in your search!

And probably the sooner the better!

gogogoofy, I've actually seen a diamond that my jeweler brought in for me, it looked great but I honestly didn't even know what I was supposed to be look for as far as inclusions. I feel like even if I see the diamond, I wouldn't be able to tell between good and great ones, which is why I am more inclined to rely on the numbers.

Unfortunately, my first option stone got swooped by before I had a chance to buy it. The search continues =/
