So, my ering is almost ready, my bf picked it up today so I could check it out before the diamond moves in.

Asscher is 1.01ct, 5.70x5.75mm, ring size I 1/2 (think its about 4.5 in US sizes)

It is higher than I had thought it would be but I think I like it, and I''m sure it''ll be easier to lower than raise down the track if it becomes an issue.

What does everyone think??

Hey kmci, it looks pretty - but are you sure you are comfortable with it that high?
This is me, but I may find it inconvenient..?

How many mm will the stone sit off of your finger? I''m not sure if the setting seems higher because there is no stone in it or if it''s just a high setting.

I really love the bezel, though! I love how it shows off the shape of the asscher and think it will look fabulous once your stone moves in :) Can''t wait to see more pics!!

I really like the concept of the design, but it sits too high for me as well. It''s a tough question to answer though because it''s such an individual preference, I just happen to love really low set stones. Maybe you should wear it around a bit, put your hand in your pocket or purse etc. and see if you find it catching on stuff.

Either way, I''m excited to see it again once you get the asscher set... have we seen your asscher yet? Apologies if you''ve posted it already and I just missed the thread.

It looks bizarrely tall to me?

Its pretty but its very high?

That''s the one thing I wasn''t sure about, I''ve tried to measure it and it sits about 7mm from finger to top of bezel, I''ve never had any kind of solitaire before so I''m not sure how high is normal. The whole thing is a big secret so I can''t ask any friends if I can do a quick measurement of their rings either!!!

My asscher search was fortunately short and sweet. I posted about it probably 5 weeks or so ago, it took me a couple of weeks to make sure I was happy with my design, and then a couple to get it to this point.

Anyway, this is my stone:

The setting does look especially high. I love your asscher! It''s too pretty to bang around - I second the suggestion that you wear the empty setting for a couple of days to see how you do w/ it. It makes a difference too if you will be wearing it on your dominant hand. I am right-handed and I notice when I wear a ring on that hand, I knock it around much more than I do w/ my wedding rings on my left, though that setting may be high enough that it could be an issue either way.

Your asscher is beautiful. I think the setting is too high and will catch on things. Luckily the bezel will protect the edges of your stone.

I think the stone and setting are beautiful. I do agree it looks a little high. Can they lower it? Do you want to wait and see how it looks with the stone in it?

Such an interesting ring... I like it! The diamond in my cathedral setting is 7mm from my finger... I think for some of the higher settings, that''s pretty normal. It just looks different because the setting isn''t really "reaching" up to meet the diamond, like in a cathedral. I say give it a try for a while and see what you think... I love mine the way it is!

I would wait until you get the stone set before you reserve judgement, but for a 1.01 ct. diamond, that setting looks far too high. My .71 ct. Asscher''s culet nearly touches the top of my shank, and I still occasionally catch it on things.

Good look! Love the concept for the ring, and I adore bezel set Asschers!

Lauren...

is that setting like yours? If I may ask, where did you get your setting. I have always admired your beautiful asscher ring. It''s gorgeous!

Thank you, Mochi!

My setting is very similar in concept, but not in structure. WF made it for me a few years ago, based on my husband''s design.

It sits about as high as I can deal with, and I can still put my hand in my pocket . . . unless they''re tight jeans.

Did you get your Asscher from WhiteFlash? Can you give us specs on the diamond? Thanks.

My husband had WF call it in, and I wasn't involved in the serach at all.

Item Code: 6129653
Report: GIA
Shape: Asscher
Carat: 0.71
Color: G
Clarity: VVS2
Depth: 67.5
Table: 57
Girdle: TK

Culet: None

Measurements: 4.95-4.95X3.34
Length/Width: 1.00

I don't know the crown and pavilian angles off the top of my head, but I believe the crown height is 15 degrees +.

I also noticed that the bezel isn''t exactly centered over the ring. Is this done on purpose so a wb might fit more snugly underneath, is it just the angle of the photograph or what? Someone asked above what the depth of your stone was to give an idea how far down into that 7mm it''ll go. Do you know it''s total depth?

Lauren I think that''s the first time I''ve seen your ring from a side view. I love that it sits nice and low and for the record your hubby did a fantastic job picking out your asscher!

No, my asscher came from Jogia Diamonds, in WA, Australia.

I''ve spent hours studying this thing so far, girlie-girl, it must be the angle of the photo cause the bezel is perfectly centered. My wb will fit perfectly underneath the bezel though.

Depth is 3.67, its actually pretty shallow, from my measurements, the posts holding the bezel up are almost 4mm, so theres going to be a bit of a gap.

Lauren, how high is your ring/bezel/bezel thickness???

Well it looks like you have the most important part a beautiful diamond. I am sure the setting will be easy to change if you decide to lower it a bit. I like the simplicity of your setting, it will really showcase your stone. Your asscher is stunning. So much detail in the stone. I could stare at it for hours.

Thanks Jess, I''m so lucky to have found it, some people on this forum have looked for months or more for their asscher, and I found a perfect one first time!! Can''t wait to have it on my finger, although I don''t know when that will be!!!

Oh I''m happy to hear it was just the angle of the photograph! I figured as much, but thought I''d mention it just in case.

I can''t believe you were lucky with that gorgeous asscher and found it on the first go! You''ll make the other asscher seekers jealous with that fact. hehe
