Hi Everyone
I placed a diamond on hold which matched my budget and specs. My budget and requirement was:
Approx. $9000+ loose stone
Round Brilliant
HCA score <2
Atleast 7.4mm+ diameter
H color or better
SI1 eye-clean or better (with no feathers!)
GIA Ex cut
Table no bigger than 57
And crown angle between 34-34.9
So I found a diamond with all that this week and it was the ONLY one that matched most if not all my requirements while maintaining my low, low budget. My girlfriend favors visual SIZE over SUPERB ideal cut... so I figured I get the basic excellent cut, H color, and dump the money on the biggest carat/dimension. Of course, I wanted to make sure that by going SI1, it is still eye-clean.
The vendor, Eternity by Yoni, has told me this diamond is eye-clean. We all know eye-clean is subjective from each vendor ranging from 12 inches to 18 inches or even as close at 6 inches of 20/20 vision.
Anyhow, the spec of the diamonds are:
GIA ex cut, vg polish, vg symmetry
H-color, SI1
1.55 Carat 7.53 x 7.56 x 4.53
Strong Blue fluorescence
$9,600
HCA score of 0.6 !!! ex ex ex ex
#1 First thing to notice is that, this is a FAIRLY large dimension of 7.50mm+ for under $10k and H color. It was darn near impossible to find a 7.50mm wide-diameter, H, color for $9600 that was excellent cut.
#2 It has proper table of 57% and 34'degrees crown angle.
#3 HCA is 0.6 as mentioned above
#4 It does florescence in strong blue, but I think I kind of like that! Makes it more white and a hint of blue is better than a hint of yellow.
I've attached pictures of aset, idealscope, H&A, and video as well. Please let me know what you guys think if this is justified for the money.
The only issues are that there are about 4 crystals near the edge/center of the table. One of then is noticeably large but it does seem to all reflect white or clear. You can see it close up in the video, is this a major deal breaker?
The vendor has confirmed however that this is still eye-clean.
I know I can probably get a 6.89mm x 6.89mm 1.20 carat H color SUPER IDEAL cut from GoG or WhiteFlash with Hearts and Arrow, but it would literally cost the same at $10 grand but it would be 20% smaller in face-up view.
I'm wondering if you guys think this level of cut and brilliance is already acceptable for the money paid. Let me know! I intend to purchase it for engagement proposal to my girlfriend!
