I have chosen and ordered my ring from WF. I decided on a I VSI 1 ct. I choose the Tiffany knife edge setting. In total I have spent $6,000. My initial budget was 3k. Either way it is a huge amount of money for me. I see alot of posts about much larger ct., higher color, designer custom settings ect. I feel like I want a million dollar budget!
Everyone has beautiful rings but how can you afford them? I hope I dont upset anyone. I know you buy what you can afford, save money...and so on. I debated about posting about this but decided to anyways. I dont know what I am trying to say really but does anyone here feel like me?

I know what you are saying. My husband flipped out when we got my rings! Our budget was 3000 as well, and let''s just say we ended up spending a little over twice that amount! But we had just gotten back from a deployment with the military, so we took some money from that. I was only 23 at the time and believe me, without that deployment, I would''ve ended up with a much smaller ring.

We didn''t have a big wedding. The ring was more important to me, seeing how it will be on my finger for the rest of my life (ha-hopefully!). I always wanted a nice ring, so we increased the budget when we actually started looking. DH realized that while it was a lot of money, my happiness (which is in direct relation to his!) was more important!

Don''t feel strange. You won''t regret it once you have that stunning stone on your finger everyday!

I can understand how you feel...BTW...Congratulations on your purchase!!!

Anyway...when we bought my new w-set, I had a budget of $5000 to $6000 for a center stone. However, I found one that really "spoke" to me and I knew that I "had" to have THAT one for my ring!! It was almost $1000 more than my budget. We hemmed and hawed over it and my DH told me to "go for it!" We purchased it and I don't regret it for a second, but for that day, I went home wondering how we could afford it...I had "buyer's remorse" but DH was wonderful and reinforced our decision and showed no regret...it doesn't bother me now, but that first day was filled with nerves...

Remember, this is an investment...not of money...but of the heart....know that you're buying what you can afford and that in itself will demonstrate itself when you have the ring on that finger!!!

Hope this helps!!

Boy, do I know what you are talking about. We recently decided to upgrade and had to go over budget as well.

However, as long as you are not spending money that will take food out of your mouths or cause you to be fiscally irresponsible, then it seems like it seems like the choice you made was prudent AND beautiful. You seem to have made a wise choice by choosing an I color with great clarity thus avoiding paying an unnecessary premium for your stone.

I''m no expert, but it seems like you got a great deal and also a diamond that you will not feel immediately like upgrading. Regarding wishing you had a million dollar budget, I think that no matter how much you have, you still feel like there are things that you wish you could have, but your ring is definitely substantial and I''m sure that since you are going through WF, it will be beautiful.

Congratulations to you. I think the strangeness will go away and you''ll see that you got a great deal and will enjoy this stone for years to come!

I am sure that the ring is going to be wonderful.. As soon as you see it, you will not feel this way. Budget? Budget.. ohhh you mean that number that is written on the crumpled up paper in the wastebasket....

Thanks for the reassurance. Maybe I should have titled the post.....Diamoonds are sooooo expensive! I guess once I see it on my hand I will feel better. This is something I have always wanted and now that I am so close to getting it I am having some emotional reaction.

Diamonds are rediculously expensive, but they seem to make us rediculously happy huh? I just upgraded this month and purchased the Ritani endless love bands and a near-one carat diamond and I am still having trouble processing the money. Sometimes, you just have to go for it and enjoy life. You only get one time around...so enjoy!

However, I have a perfectly good diamond engagement ring from 6 years ago (clearly too small for me though...) and I am disappointed that I can''t sell it back for a reasonable amount. That''s where we really lose money and the conspiracy begins....

I totally know what you are saying! You have to be happy with what you have. I just upgraded my ring to a .80 carat. It was a .54 carat. I see people all the time with BIGGER BOLDER rings. I wonder geez where do they get all that money. My hubby and I saved up for this ring. We were still saving when we sat down and decided just how big the diamond should be. I guess to me I want a rock that people wont ask "Is that real?" I want it to look believable. My new ring is beautiful! I decided to go smaller but better color. clarity, and cut.
