I''ve posted a couple times now and feel that i''m learning a bit, but I feel that it''s hard for me to make an informed decision based on how much I know.

I''ve tried looking at some diamonds from Whiteflash and I think I''m getting the hang of some ASET images and how they relate to the cut/clarity/color, but now I''ve looked at some real diamond images from James Allen and the diamonds I like don''t necessary have better color or clarity ratings than some I don''t like. I don''t quite understand this.

I''m really just looking for a nice looking 1-1.1ct princess stone, not perfect, but not cloudy and yellow.

For instance, after a quick search these seem to be nice looking diamonds from JA:

http://www.jamesallen.com/diamonds/G-VS1-Ideal-Cut-Princess-Diamond-881905.asp

Would the next step be to contact them for ideal scope images, and/or ask them to find similar diamonds to these for me?

I don''t want to rush this, but I do want to purchase soon.

Thank you!

These all have potential; I prefer the 3rd followed by the 2nd. I''d get the IS/ASET for the G first. And G color will be very white in a princess.

ASET and light performance have little to nothing to do with color or clarity...unless there''s a huge dark inclusion that blocks light from entering the stone, which wouldn''t be the case in VS or SI clarity. I think when you mention liking stones and then finding out the color/clarity aren''t as good, what you really are noticing that you like about the stone is the cut. And that''s what contributes to a good ASET and a beautiful diamond more than anything else.

I like the 1.09 E VS1 then the G colour, ditto Jstar with requesting ASET from James Allen and her advice on cut.
