Hi All, I am new to this forum, but have learned quite a lot just reading everyone''s threads. I''m looking to buy this diamond. The price is around 14k. The certification had a typo so I''m asking for a new one. the typo is below the comments line. The typo is the cert# 7774807. This number is right on all parts of the cert except where it states ""AGSL 000774807" has been inscribed on the girdle of this diamond." What was actually inscribed on the girdle was 0007774807. I''m not too concerned with the typo since AGSlabs is printing a new one. It was graded in 2006. I would like feedback on the diamond quality, the price, etc. That will help me with my decision on whether I buy this one or keep searching.

Thanks

"AGSL 000774807" has been inscribed on the girdle of this diamond.
Clouds are not shown.
Table: 54.3%
Crown Angle: 35.5
Crown Height: 16.3%
Girdle: Faceted, 1.1% to 2.0%
Pavilion Angle: 40.7
Pavilion Depth: 42.9%
Total Depth: 62.8%

I''d want an IS image with that depth and crown angle before rendering any judgement.

The price is at the very top of the scale for what some online vendors would charge for that size/color/clarity combination. Is this from an online vendor or a B&M store?

Ditto, its also a bit deep for my taste, is it sold online so you could get images?

This diamond is from a local jeweler. The store has the ideal scope image and will not give me a copy until I buy. The crown angle is 35.5 as depicted on the ags cert.

I ran the HCA and it stated 2.1 - very good

I''m wondering with the typo on the cert, 2.1 hca rating, and the jeweler not wanting to give me the IS image whether this diamond is worth it. They won''t budge on the price of 14k. The diamond looked great in the natural daylight as well as in the store.

Any other feedback would be appreciated.

They won't give you or show you a copy of the image???

Just to check, the diamond was graded in 2006 so the image won't be on the grading report as you often find nowadays, so I assume it must be a separate image they have. If the jeweller has a problem with giving you this information that they say they have, then to me that leaves a very bad taste, personally I would take my business elsewhere but thats me. It costs them nothing to at least show you the image as they say they have it....

Also it is possible the stone was a trade in due to the date on the report, it might not be the case of course but it is a possibility.

More information - the light performance was not part of the 2006 certificate as they did not do the light performance back then. It was rated by GemX. I can get an upgraded report from AGS after I buy the diamond to give me peace of mind that the diamond rates as ideal in all categories. Does it take long to get an updated certificate? The jeweler said they would cover the cost. Curious what the cost would be?

This is an engagement ring I''m buying so I want to make the best decision I can.

Your feedback is very appreciative.

The report doesn't look too bad, but notice that the stone is very dark under the table.

AGS 0 cut grade or not, I'd walk away from any ideal cut above 61.8% depth.
...and AGS 0 or not, I wouldn't touch a 35.5 crown with 40.7 pavilion.
...and throw in a jeweller who appears to have something to hide.

I wouldn't even consider the diamond for someone's Christmas cracker.

I'm starting to reach that decision to pass. I did notice the stone looked dark at times under the store lighting. I then asked to go outside and it looked great.
