A friend asked me to comment on this stone being considered for purchase.

It is currently in a belcher type setting. It comes with an EGL cert: http://www.eglusa.com/verify-a-report-results/?st_num=61771701D
Price is $3200.

I was intrigued by the P-Q color and the strong blue flourescence, and the fact that when I run the specs in the HCA it comes back as a FIC. Is it possible that this is an antique/vintage stone? Any comments/advice?

Thanks Erica,
That's what I thought too. I love the high crown. I wonder what a P-Q with strong blue flourescence looks like in real life. I guess it really depends on the body color. The seller apparently says that it exhibits no haziness.

I had a strong blue OEC once, not in this color range, but it wasn't hazy either. It was dreamy! I wonder if it would take on a greenish hue in sunlight - is that a dumb question, lol? Cuz yellow and blue make...green. I can't say I've ever seen a low color with SBF!

Definitely a less common combination with the FIC specs. From what I understand strong blue flourescence would simply make the diamond appear more white, no? Or at least in this range, with less color?

Is it safe to assume that a well cut lower color stone is more likely to be older given the fact that the emphasis on colorless stones may be a more recent trend and so lower colors will not be sent to good cutters these days (with the exception of cuts like the August Vintage line)?
