About to pull the trigger unless it is strongly advised otherwise:

Its a bit more expensive than I planned on spending, but it appears to be a great deal at 1.15 carat weight, and from my research I believe it faces up quite large compared to other hearts and arrows cushion cut stones in the same weight. The Brellia's for instance face up much smaller, and BGD's measurements confuse me with their method. BN also has much better pricing for this category of stone.

I originally started looking at 1 carat, F-G, and VS1-VS2, and this stone is an H SI1 which I'm hoping will be negligible due to the higher performance. I'm thinking this is a good trade off for the added size, which leads me to ask....

Is the extra .10-.15 mm noticeably larger in real world? She is ring size 5 btw.

Another question - am I likely to find a stone with equal or better performance from another vendor (such as JA) for a better price? In other words am I paying more just for the BN Signature name (altho this should be a guarantee of performance).

Last question for now...I have read so many posts indicating BN not good for settings. I know its common practice here to send to another vendor for setting, but can anyone recommend a local South Florida jeweler?

Thanks again for everyone (especially Gypsy) taking the time to help!

Hi,

Ii was in the same position as you and I think that is the exact stone I was going to buy and I had it on hold but I then decided to go with Brian Gavin Diamonds as they had a better cut diamond AGS certified and slightly larger 1.17 in VS2 but I colour.

I had my heart set on buying the BN one you have picked and its a great deal.

I have been told BN is not good to buy settings for, I would highly recommend BGD to make the ring, they can have the stone shipped to them and custom make you one or use one of there settings.

Please keep me updated on this stone as I would love to see what it looks like hoping its not better than what i got ha :)

such a pretty facet pattern! If its not what you expect you can always return it. Good Luck and lets us know how it turns out.

@hogster - I looked up your old thread and yes, this is indeed the same stone you had reserved at one point! Do you mind me asking what BGD's price on the 1.17 ended up being (without the setting) ? I can definitely appreciate the peace of mind of purchasing both stone and setting from same vendor, even though I understand for you its more stress being an international purchase!

@Madison - thank you for the feedback - I did confirm there is a 30 day return policy, and the cost to ship with insurance for me is minimal. :)

Hi Rookie34

How are you going with this stone and ring? Did you buy it and if so any pictures? I am getting my BGD delivered on Monday and now im excited. The BGD stone was a good bit more expensive but was a little larger and better clarity and in the signature hearts and arrows cut I wanted. Look at my posts I am going to upload some glamour shots of the ring now.

Hogster - like you I started second guessing the Blue Nile purchase for a couple of reasons.

1. My preference is to have the stone and setting handled by the same vendor, and feedback on BN settings are less than enthusiastic.
2. More importantly, the more I look at the BN cushion - the more I notice they look more like a "modified round" than a "modified square."

The BN stone seems like a super great value for that size and a great face up - but I know my gf does not favor the round shape.

I am currently deciding between BGD's signature to GOG's Brellia - both stones will be smaller and a bit more expensive than the BN, but both are more "square" in shape than the BN cushion.

The BGD H color VS2 1.05:

The Brellia I color VS2 1.09:

What I have learned to this point regarding the differences is that the BGD has an extra cut/facet on each side of the bottom/pavilion, where the Brellia does not, and the Brellia has an extra cut/facet on the face/top of the diamond.

Other than that - the difference is color and size.

If anybody wants to chime in with feedback, suggestions, or advice please do not hesitate and thank you!!

Hi Rookie34

I have just searched through my posts to find your thread again.

Thats understandable you were exactly the same as me. I had the BN stone held then question it so much i talked myself out of it and wanted a single vendor so went with BGD and i cant be any happier its stunning.

Il get pics up this weekend im popping the question on Saturday :)

Go with BGD and get the Anita ring its stunning too.

Keep me posted and get pics up .
