Hi all!

I finally got the new cad from OWD. Please be critical as I am going to send in changes today and hopefully they will be starting quickly!

Here is the link to the stone:

Here is the CAD. It will be in yellow gold and the little diamond band around the middle will be milgrained:

That is totally divine. I think you've nailed it. If you have a penchant for rose and yellow gold together, that ring of diamonds around the gallery being rose gold would be beautiful. It's lovely as is and you did a great job articulating your thoughts. It is very organic and gracefully flows. That is the least chunky CAD I have ever seen so I can 't imagine how delicate if will look in real life! Nice.

:wavey: Hi backwards!!!

You have no idea how good that makes me feel! Thank you for all of that!

That is a really interesting idea about the rose gold. I love RG and considered using it for the ring but I think the YG looks a little better on my skin tone. I thought I had read somewhere that RG and YG don't look good together.

I would be interested in hearing people's opinions on that little addition.

I love it! Loooove the stones going around the head!

Thanks dragonfly!

I have no experience in examining CAD's, but I just wanted to say that your ring looks lovely. I am looking forward to admire handshots once it's finsished. I like the diamond band. Very chique and it makes the ring extra special.

It's personal preference but I do not like YG and RG together as they are soo 'simular'. Your ring will be stunning in YG!

Thanks Acinom...I know what you mean. I am wondering though since it is such a small area in real life if it might be just a touch of nice pinkish sparkle.

Or, I have also thought (going way back to my original thread) of doing the diamond band in WG. My wedding band is platinum so it could tie in. I plan on adding a YG stacker too though so that would also tie it in.

Or should I just keep in all YG???

Stunning. Well done, great design!!!

I absolutely love it! It is definitely a design that I'd choose for myself! :appl: :appl: :appl:

Looks perfect! I think you totally nailed the design here!! Are the prongs going to be split when the diamond is set? that's the only thing I'd ask for to fine tune - split claw prongs.... but I think that's probably where you are going...!! tee hee!

perfection! I love it, I also like the idea of doing the gallery diamonds in a different gold color, but it's truly beautiful just the way it is!

The beautiful ring belonging to Haven. Yours is sort of an opposite sister of hers in the metal color. Not trying to influence either way, just giving a visual. Ganesha 's gives a good idea of what tone their rose gold is.

Haven's and the JbEG Julia were the two inspirations for this ring.

So, my choices are:

1. All yellow gold
2. Yellow gold with the milgrain band in rose gold
3. Yellow gold with the milgrain band in platinum

Thoughts?

I love your problems :D
I don't think you can go wrong with any of them, but I do think a touch of contrast in this case will make it that much more unique. Keep your future stackers in mind.

I know, right? I have such 1st world problems it's almost embarassing!

Val, love the design and vote for the band in platinum.

I'll vote yellow with platinum.

Thanks Anna and dragonfly!

I'd do the basket with the diamonds and the prongs in platinum.

Well, I think I am going to go for the YG with platinum band of diamonds/milgraine. I am waiting for the wax model so I have a little more time to think about it, but I do like the idea because I think it will tie in with my platinum eternity wedding band.

It's going to be so pretty. Can't wait to see it! :appl:

My vote would be yellow gold with prongs and diamond milgrain band in Platinum.

I think you are making a great choice with this. Can't wait to see the finished ring.

Exactly this would be my vote too!

This is what I would do too. My personal experience has been that yellow gold baskets or prongs add about 2-3 color grades to the apparant color of the diamond. With a platinum basket the stone will looks its whitest but have the greatest contrast with the yellow gold shank, which will make it pop. ETA: note that Haven's ring also has the whole basket a single color metal. I am afriad that making only the cross bars with diamonds a different metal color is look too disjointed.

hmmm...just not sure...I don't really like the looks of the two tone where the whole basket is plat and mostly only the shank is yellow gold. It looks too broken up to me. Haven's is different because somehow with all the swirls it blends seemlessly, but in this design I think it would look like a typical solitaire with plat basket and yg shank. I am okay with the stone showing more color. I don't know...

Valmanin, my vote is for you to go with your gut and get what you like! It's great to receive opinions and get feedback, but at the end of the day it's your ring, and you'll be the one wearing it. It's such a beautiful design that I don't think you can go wrong, no matter what you choose!

Thanks junebug! I am still not sure. I think it will help when I see the wax model....I think I will be able to better picture the different metals.

Val, I like your idea of just the diamond basket in platinum with the rest in yellow. I agree that it will fit well with your platinum band. However, with the differing opinions from some very savvy posters, I understand your uncertainty. Their assessment may be correct. Some of the posters are very clever with taking a photo and changing the colors. Recently they did that with the diamonds on a halo. Could you, or someone, do that with the pic of the cad?
