I just picked these out. My dress is technically called gold, but it''s just really off white. I ordered these but with a 3" heel.

So first off, do you like them?

And second, I''d love to hear any feedback from those of you who have worn ballroom shoes before.

Geez, I''ve been busy today.

I think they''re great, and assuming they fit well they should give you more support than most dress shoes. The key, of course, is that they fit you well (just like any other shoe). Do be aware that the leather soles on dance shoes don''t wear well outside.

Hey! I''ve worn ballroom shoes before because I used to dance quite a bit. They''re very comfy with a steel tongue under the arch of the shoe for great support and suede to help you glide but grip. You might want to buy a suede brush so when the suede gets soiled from general dancing you won''t slip and slide too much on the dance floor.

Buy in your exact size. I run from 7.5 to an 8 and I always get a 7.5. Technically in ballroom shoes your toes are supposed to hang over, but I don''t like that. So go as exact as possible, you don''t want a roomy fit. Otherwise things like the buckles will chafe against your ankle. (I learned this the hard way.)

You really won''t need to break them in especially if they''re satin. Don''t wear em out too much because satin does not stretch back and it can get soiled pretty easily. They''re great and super lightweight. Kinda''ve like crocs for heels. But don''t be fooled, they really put up with hours upon hours of dancing. I always like 2.5 to 3, but you could even go 3.25 or 3.5 because they''re so comfy.

I have to say the double buckle never did it for me. I always loved the T-strap style. It elongates the look of your leg with a lot of support. I''m not sure which brands you found but here are some really stylish ones:

Supadance
Freed of London
International Dance Shoes
Dance Naturals
Werner Kern
Capezio (more ballet but a few good latin shoes)

They run about 90-150 a pair, so heads up there. If you do dance any ballroom, its a great investment!

DH and I both got ballroom shoes for our wedding. But they strongly recommended we have a thin extra sole added to the bottom to make them sufficiently durable for outdoor wear.

And I have to say, even though they were comfortable and supportive, by the end of the day, my feet hurt like they have never hurt before or since. I''m not really sure why since I''m often on my feet all day for long days, but something about that wedding day, I actually had to walk partway back to the hotel afterwards barefoot...

uh oh! thanks everybody for your feedback.

Lilyth, I agree with you about the T strap. But I couldn't find any that I liked. I chose the first ones because at least the strap doesn't run high over my ankle, which bugs me. I'm sorry, I'm new. Are you married already or still planning? Did you or are you going to wear ballroom shoes?

Amber, I so appreciate your input, although now I'm confused.

How long were you on your feet? My wedding is short. We are going to be on a boat for the wedding and reception (a total of 4 hours). I'm guessing I'll be on my feet for 6 at the most. Also, how high were your shoes?

I really like these two pairs a lot. They claim to be really comfortable, but I can't find any feedback from actual brides. The shoes are beautiful, but more than I wanted to spend. However I really want to go sort of high and still want to be comfortable (probably asking too much). The site is called L'ezu. If they are as comfortable as they claim to be, I'd love them. The I love a strap or no strap around the heel, but in my experience I do better when my heel is supported around my Achilles tendon.

Oh what to do. I'd love more input.

thanks again so much. I this site is such a help for a 35 year old who never thought she'd be planning a wedding.

I don''t have any advice for what to wear for your wedding, but I like all these shoes! I especially like the second picture you posted, but can see how you might need more support on your wedding day.
