I've just obtained some ASET images (handscope) for an oval diamond that has specs that I'm fairly happy with - what do you think about it?

Thanks!

Nope not a fan. Plus being "fairly" happy isn't good enough... why are you willing to settle?

Visit Good Old Gold's youtube channel and take a look at some of his oval videos - this will give you a better idea of what to look for.

Thanks for your help. Starting off this was quite exciting but now it's becoming frustrating as I don't have an eye for this and asking the vendors I was told the above was a "spectacular" one so I am feeling more and more apprehensive... I think we might just go with asking prosumerdiamonds for a consultation. :wall:

It's not bad. It's just... odd.

Did you see it in person?

Why?! Prosumers here will do the same thing for free. Just sayin. Post your budget and wants and musts and wishes here and people will feed you links to beautiful diamonds. Here they have nothing to gain financially from telling you a stone is spectacular.

+1

You're getting frustrated because you're a newbie, and right off the bat you've select a diamond shape which is harder to select.

Like I said in your other post, don't rush this! Be a little patient and it will pay off. Let the "pros" here help you find a great stone.

Thanks for the help and encouragement, everyone. PS is probably the most unbiased place I can turn to so I really appreciate everyone's help, especially as it isn't coming from a place of financial gain.

The stone for the ASET images above is this one https://enchanteddiamonds.com/diamonds/view/O117-MCF5F2

I'm still in the process of obtaining ASET images for the one twolittlebirds recommended (https://enchanteddiamonds.com/diamonds/view/O117-MCF5F2)

What do you all think of this on? (https://enchanteddiamonds.com/diamonds/view/Oval/GIA-Certified-1-21-Carat-I-Color-SI1-Clarity-Diamond-J72ZQJ?a_aid=y)

You mean this one? https://enchanteddiamonds.com/diamonds/view/O118-RHZN5Y

It already has the ASET images posted.

Ah yes, you suggested that one as well but I think this was the other one you posted that didn't have the ASET images online (https://enchanteddiamonds.com/diamonds/view/O113-2LHEMU).... between the 2 do you have a preference? We do like the l/w ratio of the 1.13carat slightly more but your feedback on the ASET image of the 1.18carat would be wonderful. Is the fact that the 1.18carat is an 8-main table better?

Thanks again for all your help twolittlebirds :) I took a look at the 3 GOG videos you posted and they were very helpful (but my eye is still that of a newbie!)

Gypsy! I'm so glad you commented. No, unfortunately I did not. The images were kindly taken by ED when i inquired about ASET images for this diamond (https://enchanteddiamonds.com/diamonds/view/O117-MCF5F2) as they happened to have it in-house. The only images i have to go on are the ones on their site.

Honestly, I still think your best bet is contacting Jon at Good Old Gold. Otherwise you have to keep digging and requesting ASET images.

What is your timeline for finding a diamond?

I actually live-chatted with David at GOG right after you suggested it and he said he would be getting back to me with options soon. I've obtained ASET images for the candidates so far and will be attaching them to the other thread.

My timeline is... hopefully soon within the next month or so. I'm actually the one being "proposed to" so it's not too big of an issue!

Thanks telephone (I think you actually first suggested GOG?)! I've updated the other thread.
