I''m considering the following Brilliant Round diamond for an engagement ring. I want to have one that looks bright and sparkles. I don''t need the best clarity. My plan is to mount it in a tension ring mount to really show off the light performance.
Here are the details:
.906ct
I color
SI1 clarity
AGS 0 certified Ideal cut, light performance, polish and symmetry.
6.28 - 6.32mm x 3.72mm
Depth 59%, table 60.5%
Crown 33.2 deg
Pavilion 40.7 deg
The light map is attached.
What are your thoughts? Good price recommendation for this diamond?

Hi Audi,

The diamond has definite potential, might be a very bright and brilliant stone looking at the proportions. If you could get an actual Idealscope image of the diamond rather than the computer generated image from the report, that would be helpful.

Also do you know if the diamond is eyeclean and what are the grade making inclusions such as clouds, feather, crystal etc?

If you will have the pavilion exposed, be sure to check if it is eye clean from the side.

I personally prefer a smaller table which will have a more balanced optical performance (most likely), but that 60/60 type could still be lovely. Would need an ideal scope to really say for sure.

Thanks for the feedback so far. I''ve asked for the idealscope. Is this typically easily produced in a digital format by a jeweler to be emailed? The inclusions seem to be clouds within the table area, but not signficant. I''ve asked him to verify eye-clean. What''s something like this worth? Is that a fair question?

On the cert it will list the inclusions under the clarity plot in order of importance for the grade. What are listed there? Also, in the notes area it will have additional comments. What does it say there? Anything about clouds?

PS search suggests that diamonds with those specs range from $2300 to $3100.

Wait, are these right?? You must have them reversed.

Double checked again - table and depth are correct.

No additional comments or notes on the inclusions, just the diagram faintly marked with very small clouds inside the table.

I just ran a search on these specs in the search function and only one came up that was $3564. Am I doing something wrong here?

Make sure these clouds aren''t negatively impacting performance, maybe get an appraiser to look at the stone to get an unbiased second opinion. It is unusual in SI1 clarity grades that clouds will have a negative effect but certainly not unheard of and if I were buying this diamond, it is something I would want checked out.

You must be, since I am always right

, but I can''t say what! I selected AGS0, I color, SI1 and .90 to .95ct and selected search all diamonds.
