If a diamond is an AGS SI-1 but has many feathers around the underside of the pavilion (10-12), will that effect the light performance of the diamond when viewed table up?
Hi Chrion777,
As the diamond has a clarity rating of SI1 by AGS, I wouldn't worry about the feathers affecting the light performance of the diamond. It is a fallacy that inclusions can affect the brilliance of a diamond. Unless the stone has a large cloud covering more than a 1/3rd of the diamond, the inclusions will not affect the performance of the diamond at all. May I ask what the AGS cut grade of the diamond is?
Yes the dimaond is an AGS-F-SI1 triple ideal-0 (sym, cut, polish)
It's got a 59.4 table and 34.8 crown and 40.6 pav.
I think it's great and I'm almost ready to pull the trigger on it. A little worried some people have said 59.4 is too big a crown and that it won't perform as well as a <57% table.
Table % for the ideals can range, and you are still within the acceptable range (53%-60%). If everything else checks out, I'd say go for it. When you get it in person, you can judge for yourself if it shimmers as much as you want it to.
