What's your favourite festive film/movie?

Mine is The Muppets Christmas Carol, closely followed by It's A Wonderful Life.

Other notable ones include:

The closest I come to "festive" is Mon Oncle (French for My Uncle) a 1958 French film, now streaming on Amazon with English subtitles.
It's an Academe Award winner for "Best Foreign Film".

If you search around you might find it free elsewhere, or free with ads.

Mon Oncle is my favorite genre-defying film.
It is so hard to categorize, but I see it primarily as a comedy.
I'd also call it imaginative, charming, poking fun at new technology of 1958, not-mainstream, sarcastic, quirky, and very French.
Charming is the best adjective.

I give Mon Oncle my strongest recommendation.

There's even a 2010 documentary about Mon Oncle.
It was made 52 years after the film, which says a lot about how important the film is.

I've never 'bought' a film.
But if I did, Mon Oncle would top my list.

Not holiday films per se (interestingly, It's a Wonderful Life was not meant to be a holiday movie) but I find I like watching these around this time of year as they give me warm, festive -type feels.

I'm partial to the 1947 version of Miracle on 34th Street.

Also, not a holiday movie, but the Wizard of Oz is a favorite of mine this time of year because it was always on t.v. Thanksgiving week (back in the olden days when we had only 3 network channels).

Heidi, with Shirley Temple - not really a Christmas movie, but when I was a child, it was shown every year during the holiday season, so I came to associate it with Christmas.

The Muppets Christmas Carol is a gem! However, Home Alone brings the holiday cheer – it never gets old. I also often check what's in the movies for the new gems. Let's keep the holiday movie marathon going!

The Bishop’s Wife , the original movie ( not the remake) made in 1947, starring Cary Grant as Dudley ( an angel), David Niven as the Bishop, and Loretta Young as his wife. The original was black and white, of course, but I think it was “ colorized” years later . I love the clever, intelligent dialogue in old movies like this one. The chemistry between the actors is a delight to watch…. and did I mention that Cary Grant stars in it? Swoon
