Fancy Yellow Engagment ring Help

Ok, i am new to this forum and after 2 weeks of reading everything about diamonds and 4c''s porportions and colors, I have decided to buy a Canary Fancy Yellow 1ct with a 4500k rock budget.

I have looked at several online stores like nice ice, DBL, Pearlmans, Scheinerdiamnonds, James Allen, The one that has the best price for the quality is ICSTORE....And it is a considerable price discount from local Houston Jewelers, almost by 3000 dollars.

All told me the prices online are too good to be true and the only one that actually wasn''t snobby was Bailey Banks and Biddle, they told me if it was GIA certified then it is a hands down steal and even offered to have their appraiser that comes in every month take a look at it with no charge.

It is a big investment and I am a little weary for my brother tried selling a car and the man sent a bankers check then 3 days later decided not to buy and wanted the refund. My brother worked at the bank and saw it had cleared, so he sent him the money back from his checking and lost close to 17k because the mans check was fraudulant.


I have yet to decide on the setting but has anyone had any problems with a 3rd party setting it or from where i get my setting from?

Does anyone else have any suggestions for me or anything else I should know about online buying?

Do you have any images of the stones? It''s too difficult to pick radiants just by the numbers.

So very much of the color grading of fancy colors is subjective that you MUST see the stone before deciding even if you have to waste the shipping on two or three before deciding. Proportions on fancy colors are not even close to well cut colorless range diamonds because the expertise of the cutter is used to INCREASE visible color in the face-up view rather than DECREASE it as is done with near colorless varieties. The proportions are quite drastically changed to accomplish this feat so it makes it more challenging to screen diamond "by the numbers" once a fancy color is involved.

Look at locally available diamonds so that you become aware of the difference between light fancy, fancy yellow, and intense fancy yellow. You can make a far better judgment once you have a range memorized for depth of color.

No offense to icestore, but I personally would feel more comfortable dealing with WF since so many people have been happy customers here.

The link isn't working for me. With yellows, it is soooo important to see them with your eyes. The color is very important, but so it the cut. Is there a way you can get the icestore ring sent to you and compare it to the whiteflash stone? I bought a yellow and I love the color - but I keep second guessing the cut. You need to see and compare as many as you can.

You are right..., I have seen WAY more fancy colored Diamonds in the past few years than through my career.
Yellow is not the issue so much as cutting techniques made it posible for (what we call) "Cape" Diamonds up-grading to "fancy" level grades.
I wonder where quantities of the Pinks/Blues/Greens etc, etc come from!?!?!?

White Flash did come up with a cheaper custom ring that I like and are willing to let me see the rings, unfortunately IS does not have any appraiser locally that they can ship... I would have to buy then return minus my shipping cost

Is Depth and Table real important when it come to the Radiant Fancy Yellows?

From WhiteFlash...He even emailed me the GIA Certs and are all Natural of Orgin

Yes, the closer the cut to a colorless cut the better (I would rather have a "true" fancy colored Radiant with "normal" proportions than one with a cut soecificaly to bring out the color..., But it can cost double easily...

No offense to icestore, but I personally would feel more comfortable dealing with WF since so many people have been happy customers here.

Although Icestore isn't one of the popular/well known vendors here, they are reputable and have some happy pricescoper clients so I wouldn't rule them out on that fact alone.
