Hi everybody, I already posted this question earlier, but as I am getting no responses, I thought that a better "Subject Line" might help my case. This is for a ring I saw at a local jeweler that is in bankruptcy (national chain).

Three-stone platinum ring with a 1.03 ct. GIA-certified Fancy Yellow with even color distribution/SI1, VG polish, Good symmetry, med. blue flourescence, radiant-cut diamond set into 18K yellow gold. The side diamonds are also radiants, each .50 ct. H/SI2. All stones are bezel-set. The GIA report also says that the diamond has a second, colored stone report that preceded the full report.
The ring is $3909 including tax. I think it''s a good deal and it''s PRETTY! This is not a resale shop, so the ring is new. Any reason not to jump on this, or can I do better elsewhere?

ETA: The ring is now in my possession with a 10-day return period. Although an SI1, it is not eye-clean, at least up close. It''s one of those situations where I didn''t see the inlcusion with the unaided eye, then I louped it, saw the inclusion, now I CAN see it with the unaided eye at certain angles. In other words, the average person won''t see it while I''m wearing it.
Any and all opinions welcome. Thanks!!!

It looks like it is a reasonable deal and the price is not huge. If you love it, then keep it. Can you post pics?

Oohh, the dreaded pics question. I am horrible at taking pics but in this case I think I should if I want opinions. I''ll try tonight or tomorrow.

It doesn''t sound like a bad price to me but i''m a novice when it comes to colored diamonds.

The thing that would make me hesitate it the medim blue fluoro. I''m wondering how it affects the stones yellow color.

OK, here are some pics taken with my scanner. I know, DWEEB! I can''t find the power cord to my camera. For now, this should give you some idea of the ring. Two at different resolutions and one hand shot. I can''t believe how bad my hands look. It''s like Night of the Living Dead!

A more realistic view. I didn't leave it for sizing in case I got cured of my temorary insanity or was saved by my Pricescope advisors (or enablers!). At this point, the ring has grown on me. It is the perfect size for daily wear:

Looks good to me... :P

I like it - interesting setting - good for every day wear. The yellow color is also very pretty.

Thanks, it sits low on the hand, another feature I like.

It looks very comfortable and you will probably not see too many people out there with one like it. I say "Go for it." I know people that have spent that much [and more] on a dress [not me, of course . . . !

Oh I love it!!!!! ----> That''s coming from someone who has a yellow diamond as an engagement ring.
It looks great and I think you got it at a decent price... Will you keep it? :)

In my mind, it is already MINE. Unless, Amethyste, you want to trade me for your ring!

All joking aside, my main concern was living with a not-close-up-eye-clean SI1, but the inclusion is lost in the facets of the radiant cut most of the time, so I am going to live with it. It only has the one inlcusion, darn-it.

If you turn the ring 180, you might not even see the inclusion anymore. That''s the nice thing about the body color, if there are inclusions, most of the time they are lost...

You have a gorgeous ring, but I think I''ll keep mine ;)

HI:

Really lovely!

cheers--Sharon

I love it!

I really like that ring. I''ve always wanted a yellow center stone, it looks low and comfortable for everyday wearing, absolutely love the sleek bezel look, and the price doesn''t break the bank. I think it is a keeper.

I think the price seems good and if you love it, go for it! I think it is very pretty, and I would wear a ring like that for sure.

Thanks everybody for the responses. I''m loving this ring but not the small carbon inclusion that shows up every now and then. And I do mean small, it''s not even a speck. But I don''t think I can touch a ring like this anywhere else for anywhere near the price. I know I should get over it. I have about 7 more days to decide.

The price does seem really reasonable...and its a pretty nice ring to boot...I say go for it!

Pretty ring. Looks like a very fair price to me. Bear in mind, the yellow bezel helps to intensify the color of the diamond. It may not be that yellow if you were to see it loose.

It sounds like a good price to me and it looks great on your hand! I say go for it. I think everyone need a yellow diamond, lol!

Catmom, you crack me up! I had been feeling a little depressed about some things that are going on in my life and this definitely makes me feel better, getting a great deal on something I have always wanted. Whose PS signature says, "It''s not a deal if you''re not getting exactly what you want!"?

UPDATE-- I found the exact same ring at another location without a black carbon inclusion. Just a clear crystal, the better kind of inlcusion. So all is right in my universe today!

Paul, you are right, the yellow gold bezel setting really helps up the "yellow" factor. The interesting thing is, the first diamond was GIA graded as a Fancy Yellow, the one I am keeping is GIA graded Fancy LIGHT yellow, and they both looked like the same color. The salesperson and I were sort of going HUH?!? But that is the advantage of seeing the two diamonds side by side.

So... You returned the carbon inclusion one for the other one at the store with the crystal inclusion? Post pics again hehe. See? Things are great!!

Yes, things are great. Even though the stores are the same chain, since the first location is in a mall that requires vendors to allow returns for up to 10 days even on clearance merchandise, I was able to return the first ring. The salesperson understood it was because of the inlcusion. I had to go about this the way the store told me to do it in order to adhere to their policies regarding sale merchandise. And since the ring ended up being 70% off retail, I was willing to do it in their order. I guess you could say that I am enjoying one of the few upsides to this horrible economy.

Amethyste, I don''t have photos yet. Since the second ring is "The One", I left it for sizing. The center diamond is more square, but essentially it is the same ring. I have a feeling that I will be wearing it a lot. I did mention you to the saleslady. I told her about you pairing a yellow gold ring with your yellow diamond set into platinum. I told her to look on Pricescope for the "lemony pear". She said she would because she knows about PS!
