I know Fridays are fun around here...we have preggo shots, baby shots, confessions and what not. But I thought it might be fun to start a thread every Friday for any mother, preggo, or lurker who wants to join in? Might be a fun way to get to know each other better once a week since we are all on separate threads most of the time.

So I thought every Friday we could come in and do one rant and one rave for the week. Doesn''t have to be preggo or child related. Could be anything. Just a way to say: TGIF!!!

Here''s mine.

Rave: While I love my inlaws, they have gone home to Australia and I finally have my house to myself again and can read my Kindle to my heart''s content.

Rant: My inlaws are gone, and I''m sad for my kid. And I was hoping to just settle down for a few weeks of mindless nothing, but now I have to plan a swanky baby shower in less than a month!

Happy Friday!!

Rant: I don''t understand how my boss can come over to my desk and talk about all of the work we have to get done and how stressed out he is and how he''s giving me 3 extra projects so that we can clear things out BUT then 30mins later comes over and says ''let''s all go to lunch.'' What am I supposed to answer? We''re so busy but let''s take a 2 hour lunch?

Rave: I''m so excited for the weekend because I have nothing planned! Woohoo!! Housework is done since I got home early on Tuesday and did everything I normally do on the weekends. We have zero parties to attend. No doctor''s appointments. No necessary shopping trips. NOTHING

Rave: Loved my trip to AZ and loved finding out about Aidan.

Rant: Dislike the fact that the resort double billed me $400 as a "hold" on the room which wouldn''t have been released until Monday at the earliest without me getting the hotel an bank on a conference call.

Rave: I had Thursday off so I spent all day with my little guy. It was so much fun and he played so much that he was totally tuckered out by bedtime.

Rant: It''s supposed to rain this weekend, which means that DH won''t be able to start digging for our patio.

Fiery, those are the best weekends ever. I''m jealous!!!

Good idea, TG!

Rant: My normally laid-back PT job feels more like a FT job today, and Henry's being incredibly clingy. He doesn't want to play, he just wants to nurse and snuggle. It's hard to type over a 23 lb baby nursing across your lap. Poor little guy, and poor me.

Rave: I'm incredibly lucky to have the chance to work from home and spend time with my son simultaneously.

OMG, he''s 23 lbs already? Where does the time go??? I swear you were just announcing you were preggo....

I like this thread!

Rant: It''s gorgeous outside and the rest of the weekend is supposed to suck, and I''m not going to be outside in the sunshine at all. I go straight from work to a hair appointment and as much as I love my stylist, I love the sunshine more!

Rave: My coworker agreed to swap schedules with me next Friday so I can start my 6 hour drive to VA at 6:30 instead of 10! She rocks!

It feels that way to me, too! I can''t believe he''s going to be a year old in June.

Rave: We got raises today
9.gif
. And I''m already thinking of getting myself a little something.

Rant: Tantrums. ''Nuff said.

Rant: I just registered for classes for my first semester of grad school (starting in the fall), and it hit me just how *unbelievably* hectic and busy life is going to get. I realized that my desire for a baby will likely have to wait much longer than I anticipated because I just can''t imagine how I could have a baby with the schedule I''m going to have in grad school and all the studying and work it''s going to take to do well. It makes me really sad to think about waiting another 3 years. But it''s just not feasible to bring a baby into this world when I''ll be out from 6:30am-5pm most days and that''s without all the study time (and DH works from 7am until 8pm or later some nights)! I wanted to start TTC at some point next year. I''m hoping my schedule calms down after my first year, but I really have no idea. And to make it all worse, my mom has been pressuring me relentlessly about wanting grandchildren! She always does it in a joking way so it''s not as bad, but still. This turned into a longer rant than I wanted it to be - sorry!!
14.gif

Rave: I''m going to the grad school I had always dreamed of going to! It was so competitive and I know so many people who unfortunately didn''t get in, so I''m so grateful and happy that I did. As for the baby thing... DH is wonderfully supportive and we regularly have open discussions about it, so I feel better knowing we''re both on the same page. And despite the intense workload, I''m kinda excited to start taking classes I''m interested in again in the fall!

Rant: Got a bill from my employer yesterday for the premiums of my benefits while I am on FMLA. I called billing coordinator since I thought, by law, that they have to continue paying for the coverages even if I am on unpaid leave. He said that FMLA was enacted and to ignore the bill, but I am still iffy about it. I don''t want to lose insurance.

Rave: Loving the Tassimo coffee maker DH got me. One button and I can make espresso drinks, coffee, tea, and chocolate in minutes.

Rant: I''ve been doing some pretty drab spreadsheets this week at work. It''s been a tough slog.

Rave: DH just got an email from the partners at his firm. Tomorrow is his birthday and they sent a message wishing him Happy Birthday and asking us to go out to dinner on them--and just turn in the receipt! We already have reservations at a nice restaurant for tonight and this makes it that much better! WOOOHOOOO!

Wow Henry is a big boy. Can''t believe he is going to be 1 soon.

Rant: Dh''s schedule: 9 PM till 7 AM yesterday, tonight, and tomorrow night.

Rave: Ds slept in until 6:40 this morning. I think he is finally over his 5:00 wake up time!

Rave: There are few things better than ice-cold coca-cola (decaf) and a pack of nabs, and that''s what I''m eating right now.

Rant: I wanted to eat the leftover chicken and spinach my DH packed for me, but alas he packed me the ones with onions (I have had horrible heartburn this week) and no plate on which to warm the chicken...

Great thread TGal!!!

Rave: excited for tomorrow, our best friends son will most likely be drafted to the NFL. 3rd or 4th round. So we are super excited but nervous as well.

Rant: New woman at the market I go to refused to put some sauce on my chicken. I was like I always get a little tomato sauce, other wise it''s dry.. She said nope, can''t do that. I said I will be happy to pay for it.

Then second rant ( can we have more than one?? ) Went to the bank to the Safety Deposit box. No one is around waited 10 minutes for someone to help me. Notice the door to the boxes was ajar, not locked key''s were laying right there on the table.. Not cool.

Fun! I guess I don't really belong here as we're not even thinking about TTC, but I'll join in anyway

Rant: Oh, this is easy. FI and I still have so much wedding planning to do, and I'm not looking forward to negotiation wedding day hours with my parents. We're doing a Hindu ceremony in the morning that has been scheduled for 10-12, and I assumed this meant we would be cutting out most of the events that happen in a "traditional" Hindu ceremony which lasts three days. Apparently this is the wrong assumption: according to my parents many things simply can't be left out, so they've planned to fit it all in pretty much the full week prior. And the day of starting at 7:00 AM. Yeah, not gonna happen.

Rave: My friend and I are having dinner tomorrow, and we're going out for sushi!! I haven't seen him in months, I'm so excited
9.gif
It's even possible that FI will make it, depending on how his data looks tonight.. fingers crossed!

ETA: Kaleigh - I must know, who is he?? Or at least tell us what position!

I don''t know if I can say his name is that against the rules?? He''s from UVA, position is OT. 15 teams are looking at him, it''s crazy.

He''s got a great agent. His parents are keeping him very level headed. He''s just about the nicest kid I know. Hoping to be there when his name is announced, and have some champagne.

Rant: My back hurts. I had a fracture a long time ago and it still hurts from time to time. My husband keeps asking me to pass things to him, do things, show him things, come and look at things and I just want to curl in a foetal position and rock gently until the pain stops.

Rave: I haven''t killed him yet...

No, that won''t do - that isn''t much of a rave.

Ok, rave: bathtime and bedtime with a sweet, smiley, snuggly little spud and a party with friends to look forward to tomorrow night. A Blackadder theme night, and I haven''t been to a fancy dress party since I was in highschool.

They can''t charge you the employer portion during the 12 weeks of FMLA, but they can bill you for your normal portion. And if you take longer than the 12 weeks they may possibly be able to bill for the whole thing (depending on how your company works).

Well, one name popped to mind!

Best of luck!

Rave: I''ve spent the last 5 hours outside with my boys playing at the park and eating a picnic enjoying the BEAUTIFUL weather we''re having.

Rant: I''ve got a major headache now (most likely from the pollen).

Rant- I fell down hard in the kitchen yesterday (after tripping on a pirate sword). I landed on my hip/side and twisted oddly to make sure I didn''t land on my bump. I am soo sore today.

Rave- Starting on Baby''s room this weekend!

Thanks MG. That''s what I thought. It was a bill for the employer portion. I''ll be so mad if they mess up and cancel my plans.

Great idea TGal!

Rave: My husband just got one job offer with company A and he''s 95% sure he''s going to accept it but he''s waiting for offer #2 from company B to come in. Either way, we''re moving back to New England in June.

Rant: I''m tired of getting sinus infections. I get one per season, usually, and they suck. I actually need to get sinus surgery but I won''t because I''ve heard too many horror stories about how it doesn''t always work.

Thanks for this thread, Tgal!
Rave: my husband is incredible. As many people are aware, its been a horrible week for me personally, and my husband has just proven his love for me over and over again. He even went out last night and bought Avatar since we both really enjoyed it. I can''t wait to have our own movie night and watch it again!
Rave two: since I''ve been stuck inside and feeling badly all week, I went out today and did a bit of shopping! I got some of the old navy shorts on sale, and a cute pair of jeans from NY&Co for only $15!!

Rant: after asking my family to please not tell anyone about my pregnancy, I received a message on facebook from the lady my sister used to nanny for asking me how I''m feeling. No words can even describe how betrayed and upset I felt, and my sister responded to me by saying, "I know you have anger about your miscarriage, so if you would like to take it out on me, I understand." Say what?! My anger is not about the mc. It is about your stupid actions. And now my family just expects me to suck it up that I''m mad at her and continue planning her wedding shower.

Charbie, your sister screwed up for sure. Good thing you have a great hubby!

Kaleigh, that''s pretty exciting about your friend''s son!

QT, off to check out what a tassimo coffee maker is....

Rant: I am so over being 41 weeks pregnant! Get out baby!

Rave: So I am making my husband take me out for frozen custard after dinner.
