First, I'd like to thank you all PS'ers for all your wonderful advice and kind words.

I did indeed email my dad about my mom's ring. He didn't reply straight away so I was rather worried about it. I sent him a follow up email and also reiterated my offer to buy Evil SIL another piece of jewellery instead. He then emailed me back; and guess what?!! He agreed with me that the 5-stone ring should stay in the family and also said that he should never have asked me!

I was so shocked that he agreed rather readily with me. I subsequently called him and we had a chat. He didn't seem particularly worried about the issue, so maybe I was making a mountain out of a molehill after all.

Well, I guess all's well that ends well. It is a huge relief for me!

That''s really good news. I''m glad your father came around. I''m kind of still concerned though, about your offer to buy her another piece of jewelry instead. WHY??? Did he mention anything on that at all in his email?

Yay! i''m so glad that worked out well - and I''m glad you e-mailed him to explain your feelings on the issue. Way to go, Phoenix!

Family matters can be so hard to deal with. Lots of heart ache and what not. I am so happy your Dad saw it as you do...Phew!!!

That is really great. Those darn molehills seem to get so big and are always in our way, aren''t they? Cool you stepped on and squashed this one!

Woo hoo! So happy for you!
