Starting my shopping for fall. Does anyone follow the fashion mag''s? Are boot leg pant still in?

A girfriend just reprimanded me for buying a pair of bootleg Theory cords - she said "You are so OUT!" Are straight or cigarette legs really back?

I do tend to follow the outlines of the styles..if that makes any sense. For instance, I just can''t bring myself to wear my lingerie as a shirt, but that''s just me.

As for the jeans...I still love boot cut jeans but not the ones that flare out a lot. I have this one pair that I wish I could find another pair like them. They make your legs look sooooo skinny and they flare just right at the bottom and I will continue to wear those (in style or out) until I just can''t wear them anymore. I also just bought a pair from Express that are boot cut and I love those too. However, I absolutely love super straight legs on jeans and pants. I have a pair of black Cigarette pants that I''ve had for almost five years and I''ve worn them even when they weren''t "in" but everyone always loved them anyway. Now they just happen to be coming back

I guess what I''m saying is that I kind of keep an eye on what the trends are to play around with some of the looks but as a rule I stick with what looks best on me even if the fashion police are writing me up a ticket
2.gif
If you love them, wear them! I would
9.gif

Oops, D4Me beat me too it...basically I was going to say, it is just a trend...and I know that trend would not be flattering on my body
3.gif
So that is one trend I will be skipping! If you''re not convinced, look through the jeans on Neimans, half are a little more straight leg/narrow, the other half shown are bootcut.

Man, these look so painful.

I''m so short waisted they''d be up to my rib cage, lol.

Oh yes, they are. My mom used to buy that exact same style for me when I was in school.

I was so popular

Those just can''t possibly be flattering on anyone!
Do you know how huge that would make my hips/tummy look?!

i just want to get some scissors and cut about 5 inches of that waist off!

Diamonds4Me, Blue824 - Thanks for the advice and heads up. I'm not going to sweat it and wear what feels good and comfortable. Do you guys ever by Theory pants? They're great for slenderizing if you aren't built like a stick...that's NOT me, far from it.

Blue824 - you're right. I went thru the whole Neiman catalog and they're still showing a lot of boot leg.

I had a chance to check out some of the latest runway shots. They're showing slim riding type pants tucked into a high boot. Now who the heck is going to look good in that!

Diamonds4Me - I remember trying to stuff myself into those types of jeans you just posted - what misery. I can't even breath looking at them!

Those jeans are atrocious!!!

It''s like HELLO 1980''s!!!!

I am short and curvy, so skinny jeans are a no-no on me. I need a very slight flare or boot cut on my jeans to balance out my hips and upper-half. Plus, if you are big-chested like I am, wearing skinny jeans actually makes you look way out of proportion and is very unflattering for that body-type.

Overall, it''s a trend that I don''t predict being around for too long. It''s one of those things that only looks good on 6 foot tall, anorexic-looking supermodels - not the average (and in my opinion, better looking!!) woman.
2.gif

If they are Theory then they are definitely still in style. Theory is one of the names you see celebs wearing and I hardly think they would design something that was out of style. I will never be caught dead in cigarette pants or straight leg jeans, they are so unflattering on my body!

I don''t even think those pants are very flattering on the super tall super skinny! Who the heck ever thought it was a good idea to cut jeans like that?!

please please don''t tell me that those jeans are in style right now? Say it ain''t so, say it ain''t so!!!

About 6 years ago I remember the fashion mags saying that the boot leg style was being switched to a narrower leg and it did NOT turn out to be true. The peg leg is just not flattering to everyone. I also remember when the fashion industry dictated our skirt lengths but a few years ago they started doing mini skirts they didn''t sell well. Now absolutely any skirt length is acceptable without looking"out of style".

YES! that is true, they tried to have those pants make a come back and I didn''t see them anywhere (except on my mom who had hers left over from like early 80s/early 90s hehe). Even on What Not To Wear they tell you to wear what looks good on your body and pick & choose trends. Never thought I''d reference them, but it holds true. If all of us rebel, the trend will die...hopefully!

OMG, those are just the worst style ever. I love the boot cut and a nice low waist. So comfy.

I was just going to say the same thing re: Theory...they would never put out something that is not in style!! So if you got them there, you are fine.
5.gif

The trend now is to tuck your jeans into slouchy boots, it looks horribly unflattering on many models and celebs, so I don''t even dare to think what it would look like on little ole average me!
32.gif

I love bootcut jeans with heeled sandals...just the toes peeking out! Elongates the legs too.

My opinion is that unless you are a movie star or some hotel heiress, does it really matter that you are right with the trends? I mean, don''t we want to look good, but be comfortable, too?

Unless your friend has stick thin legs and no waist, when she wears those cigarette leg pants, she will be the one who is SO OUT (or hanging out of those too tight pants.) Blech. I hated that style when I was in high school and I hate it now, too.
14.gif

OK, so we all agree not to participate in this trend? Just Say No to peg leg!

I''m boycotting the look. My slender thighs with man-calves are not made for skinny cigarette pants.

I''ve noticed a lot of skinny legged pants in US magazine lately...I''m really loving the low waist comfy pants! I don''t want to go back to highwaisted skinny pants ever again!!

Thankfully..the one''s I own are not up to my rib cage. They''re all low cut like the current jeans are. I guess I''m weird because I do like them
40.gif
But I HATE the jeans in the picture I posted above. Just plain ugly and yucky.
40.gif

But I have to explain the reason I like them. I don''t have hips. I tried on clothes yesterday and everything in my size has the contoured hips. I felt like a stinkin'' Oompah Loompah.
29.gif
I had on my stiletto style boots yesterday and the legs of the pants just pooled around on the floor and they were regulars. I think they were a 32" inseam. But because they had so much empty space in the hips and rear there was nothing to cling onto. I''m a hair over 5''7" and with 3" heels on I''m over 5''10". My inseam is greater than 32". I guess I"m just going to have to break out my sewing machine again.
20.gif
And let me tell ya..everybody thinks that when you''re thin you have a closet full of really cute outfits and crap. HA! Ha..HA! (ok..mini rant here...). It couldn''t be farther from the truth! If I am lucky enough to even find my size its only in one pair and then they''re either sewed in with hips or they''re petite and fall above my ankles. At Kohl''s I was kindly told by one of the women that work there that the girls in the back room pick through all the clothes when they come off the truck so they can get the smaller sizes before they even hit the racks. So NOT fair. And some places around here get the knew stock in on Thursday mornings and they''re gone by that afternoon. Well..that just takes me out of the loop..there''s a little thing called a JOB. Catalog ordering is OUT of the question in the jeans and slacks department. They only go down to fours and those will fall off of me. Sorry..after yesterday it just really burned my patootie.
29.gif
What''s back there, anyway. I don''t have curves..those that do are so lucky. And if you ever want to donate some to the "curvless girls" foundation..I''m first on the list! And be thankful that when you''re at the beach you aren''t referred to by the local drunk at the bar as a prepubescent 12 year old

Diamonds4Me: I have no idea how thin you are, but I''m also 5''7 with a 33" inseam and no butt. I ALWAYS ALWAY buy my pants/trousers/jeans/skirts etc. in the junior''s department because they fit my straight curveless butt so well. I cannot wear anything from Express and Limited at all because all their skirts and pants are cut too curvy and I end up with 2 halfmoon flaps in the hip area. I think I''m one of the few women I know that has the same size hips after 2 kids, who were both less than 7lbs, and required vacuum suction due to my non-existent hips!

That''s my exact problem! Doesn''t it drive you nuts???? Instead of stuffing my bra with tissue paper I need to do it to my hips.

They DO sell padded panties now....I just saw a pair from newport news

.

This thread is making me sad. First I''m padding my top, and now I''m thnking of padding my bottom. some people might just say: "Eat a cheeseburger woman!", but the thing is I gain weight in all the wrong places" under the chin, on my upper arm, lower pooch and inner thighs. I never gain weight in the butt/hips area.

That''s IT! That''s the exact same areas that hit me! Your birthday isn''t in September, is it?
9.gif
Maybe we''re "twins", lol. When I gain weight its in the lower abdomen and the inner thighs..so a cheese burger just isn''t going to do it for me. Now, if I gained it in the RIGHT places I''d be all over that cheese burger, lol

I''m not born in September...but it''s cool to finally know someone with the same problems I do. Most women I know are more pear shaped, and complain about their over-abundant butt!

i''m not alone!
39.gif
i am 5''8" and could *never* find jeans long enough to fit my butt-less body..... until i tried on some jeans by fossil. i couldn''t believe that the regular length fit...perfect. i do also buy some longs becuase i like the look when i wear stilettos. also, they sell some styles that have flap pockets on the back, which i think helps make it look like there''s something back there
