Hey all :)

So last night as moral support to my bestie I agreed to get a fake tan with her. Her wedding is in a month and this was the trial.

Now I have always thought of fake tans as tacky orange messes, and so I was quite nervous I would wind up looking like an ompa lompa, but it actually looks super hot! It only cost $30 and it even makes me look heaps slimmer! And my boobs look more defined! I love it.

I never go out in the sun because my FF has had a huge skin cancer cut out of his cheek, and had to have plastic surgery to make it look normal again, so I learnt from his experience, and I am usually as white as the moon.

Does anyone know how long it takes to wear off? If it lasts like 2 weeks I might consider doing this every two weeks! :)

Anyone else fake it?

Congrats Hon. I dont know, i never tan, for a few reasons. One being im african american( even though its hard to tell some days), two my SO had skin cancer too, expect it was on his lip, and he too had to have it removed. Does your SO go and get cancerous spots burned off? My SO has to go every 6 months and there are usualy 3 or 4 spots that get burned, last time, 2 got cut out :errrr:

Yep he has had a couple more not so bad ones that were diagnosed as cancerous and goes and gets checked out every 6 months. He is very careful now. It was a frightening experience.

Yay for a thread about the dangers of the sun and the awesomeness of fake tans!!! My dad had melanoma a few years ago and I'm very careful about the sun now. If I tan for my wedding it will definitely be spray tan. Idk how long it takes to wear off but some of my friends and family have gotten them and they look really nice! Just be careful not to get one on days where it might rain. My cousin got one a few days before her wedding and it was just barely drizzling out and you could actually see some little raindrops on her skin the next day.

I did the fake tan thing once. It didn't last long at all, maybe a week or so, if that. But I think my skins sheds abnormally fast (eww, that sounds SO gross). I don't think it would last two weeks though...

I agree about skin cancer awareness and fake tans.....How about that lotion that helkps you tan naturely, i dont know if it works, but it might be worth a try

I have tried some of the fake tan lotions...I like the bare escentuals faux tan the best. The Jergens lotion is good but doesn't make you super dark or anything, it is barely noticeable for me.

I am SO pasty that the Jergens works like a champ for me. : P

I have decided to buy some St Tropez and start doing it at home. St tropez is getting rave reviews on the Aussie Vogue forums.

I agree, go with St Tropez. I am so white I make Casper jealous! St Tropez is brilliant but $$$.

I am a blond and fair skinned but didn't burn easily and always had a deep tan from working in the yard.
Then I went to the dermatologist to have a mole removed and he freaked out when he saw my back.
He took off 38 pre cancerous (thankfully) lesions and I haven't been in the sun since.

The spray tan lasts about a week
A friend who was a BM did it and she looked fabulous
Not fake at all

I am a fake tan addict.
Depends on the product used. I've found pray tan can last 2 days to 1 week depending on how deep the colour is and how much activity I have been doing.
Some places will give a discount if you go back within 1 week I have found.

It does work for me but it doesn't make me super dark. If I put too much on it can start to look orang-y.

The thing that worries me is that I'm not sure that the fake tan products have been around long enough for researchers to know the long-term effects. I know that there are chemicals in them (like dihydroxyacetone and erythulose) that are absorbed through the skin and there are health concerns about some of them.

I agree that the fake tans look awesome these days! My neighbor does the airbrush tanning and I had her spray me for NYE this year (which was kinda awkward to stand bra-less and in my underwear in front of my neighbor that I see daily, but c'est la vie.) and I loved the look. However, the one thing I would warn against for girls thinking about this for their weddings....when you go for the trial, try wearing a white sleeveless shirt the next day and make sure the color from your arms does not rub off on the sides of the shirt. My sister got an airbrush tan a few days before her wedding and by the end of the night, her white stapless gown had orange sides. :errrr:
