Fake diamond in platinum setting?

Hi! I have a 950 platinum shank, with a 14K white gold head. My fake diamond is set Tiffany style. I''d like to get a new head in platinum for a larger fake stone. Can you set a fake diamond in platinum, or will it break the stone like my jeweler said?

If the 'fake' is a CZ you should be able to set it in platinum with no problem.

CZ has a hardness on the Mohs chart of about 8. making it the equal of ruby and sapphire.

The jeweler is yanking your chain, or else he's incompetent.
