Hi everyone,

I''m looking at a rock from a local B&M that claims to sell at "wholesale."

Round Brilliant.
0.614 ct, E, SI1.
5.45 x 5.47 x 3.36
Table: 56.0
Tot. depth: 61.5
Crown: 14.9% / 33.9°
Pav: 42.9% / 40.8°
No fluorescence.

AGS 000 (light performance, proportion, finish all 0)
Asking $US 2880.
Obviously there''s a markup over the Internet vendors, but by how much?

Thanks, Mike.

Ha! I screwed up. That price was Canadian, not US$..... so it''s about $2475 US. Not too bad actually, it doesn''t appear to be too much more than the Internet vendors.

Mike,

Did you say this has documentation from AGS? Interesting that it comes with % (provided on that doc?) as well as angles, and that the local on the HCA is slightly out of the targeted box....but perhaps in a good way.

Either way, here''s a comparable, and I''d agree that you should do very well with that one.

New style AGS-reports with Light Performance indeed have both angles and percentages mentioned.

Live long,

Yes, the report is from last month, so it has percentages and angles. The 33.9° is slightly outside of the "ideal" range. But to my eyes, I couldn''t detect the difference between that and another one that was right in the middle of the ideal range.

Mike,

I''m a bit confused (but please don''t worry, you''re good to go). Do you mean you''re slightly outside the ideal range, based on the boxes on the HCA chart? Seems like if it''s triple 000, you''re maybe only picking up an error in the chart...since ideal would only be defined by AGS, and the HCA is secondary to that.

I was referring to the boxes on the chart at the top of this page:

I guess that those are the "old" AGS 0 standards, which have been replaced with the new light performance grading.
