In the shade and a few in sunlight cos wanted to show the “ying guang” (what’s the English translation for that?)

Do you mean the reflected light from the bottom of the stone ?

@icy_jade, I know what you mean. I call it “sheen”, like what you see on really nice moonstones!
Nice jadeite

Adularescence is probably what you're thinking about, if you are comparing it to moonstone.

Thanks @voce for the enlightenment, I am completely clueless as I don’t own any moonstone   :D

I cross post between both platforms and am available by phone or text and post that info within each post. All my photos are done in natural light and depending on what time of day it is plays a huge part in the overall look of a stone. I usually don't frequent the forums anymore but thought I would respond to your questions personally. Have a great week...:)

Awesome! I have been watching on IG, can't wait to find the "one".

0.54ct Australian black opal in a rose gold engraved halo by Cecile Raley Designs. I think total for this ring was a bit under $600.

Holy cow! That opal looks so much bigger than .54. Well done you

You have a great collection of bands! You scored the ruby and emerald rings for excellent prices, too :)

Thanks! Bands are very unicorny, they have to be the right size so I just stalk a lot of websites. I also try and buy them a bit larger.

I feel like I have big hands (size 7) so my options are big rings or lots of little ones all together :)

Earlier in the year I bought an antique pin with blue zircon. My idea was a pin to ring conversion which as it turns out is not as simple as I thought it would be!

Anyhoo, I now have my ring in hand and despite two tiny niggles to do with balance/symmetry and the tiny diamonds being in slightly the wrong place, I'm delighted.

I bought the pin, DH paid for the labour, my mum and MIL contributed gold charms and the 4 single cut diamonds came from my gran's art deco E-ring (long story but it was a remake that went bad and 4 tiny stones were left over).

If I was to do the project again there are very small changes I would make and as I said there are imperfections in the execution. But the ring was made by hand with nothing more than my sketches given to the jeweler over the counter in his busy shop. So I'm happy to live with it as it is :-)

Shock horror, I actually got around to setting my wee Alex. The setting a pre loved 1980s style (I love cluster rings) well under $1,250.

That’s really pretty, @Tartansparkles! Gorgeous zircon colour. I think you are UK based? Would you recommend the jeweller, despite the glitches? Worth adding to the thread about U.K. jewellers? I know I have at least one thing I’d like made at some point with no clue where to start with finding someone to do it.

I'm happy to recommend but I'd like to ask his permission first :-)

I just completed a ring "project" that came in well under $1250! I have to give a huge thank you to @PreRaphaelite for suggesting I buy the platinum art deco setting on an auction site. I saw the setting, and fell in love! My winning bid: $236. But I didn't want to keep it with the cz it came with, so was hunting for a gemstone. Then I jumped on the 4.35 ct , 8.31mm Jeff White cut Cambodian blue zircon when it listed on LT. $500! I sent my goodies off to DK for new claws and stone setting, $200. Total: $936!

Wow! That’s fantastic! I didn’t realise you got the ring and I’m so glad you did! An amazing result. Gorgeous!
More pics pretty please!

Just for you @PreRaphaelite ! When you posted it and suggested I buy it, you have no idea ---but I LOVED it! And immediately signed up to bid! I was so happy when it arrived, just beautiful (except for needing new prongs...someone butchered them trying to squeeze that cz in!)
We finally had some sun today so I had some sparkle fun!
Thank you again!

My latest steal.

Have you seen any fabulousness lately...
below 1250 dollars?

I just got notified by Ivy & Rose that my rings are ready. I sent them a 5mm California spessartite garnet and an 8x6 pink spinel from Burma in the second half of March. Here are the pics they sent over. The spinel was $500, setting $749 including labor, so it's just under at $1249. The spess was $65, and the setting cost $593, so that ring is $658. I will probably get the rings next week, as I had requested to send them to a work address. Here are the hand shots that Ivy and Rose sent me.
