Hahaha another thing we have in common. Of course we laugh at our own jokes. We are funny. And believing we are is most of the way there anyway IMO. I always say if I don't laugh at my own jokes why should anyone else laugh at them? And this way we are easily amused. :cheeky:

But back to your gorgeous new ring. That is no joke when I say it is stunning. That it is.

Didn't see that coming. lol

I just finished my blue zircon ring, and as it was really a good buy, I wanted to post it here. Zircon bought from Jeff Davies for 245 USD, the setting was 650 USD, so if came even under 1000 USD.

It’s beautiful! I love asscher cuts. I love the unique setting too. I see you put it in a protective setting. My mom did that with the 3 carat blue zircon my husband and I gave to her ( back when they were only $30 a carat).

I feel like I’m spamming the boards here but I finally get to post something on this freaking thread. Yay!!!

Here’s my 2.28ct Mozambique purple garnet from Jeff White.
I had it set in this ring from Aurosi Jewels on Etsy. https://www.etsy.com/listing/590829125/white-gold-vintage-ring-art-deco?ref=shop_home_active_1
Total cost: $1,175.00 :cool2:

This is divine!! What an amazingly beautiful ring. I’ve drooled over Jeff White’s stones and would love to have one, one day. Enjoy!!

Very substantial, modern and protective setting. Perfect for the zircon! Any specs on the setting and the bench to share? Looks fab on your finger :)

The ring was made in Dubai, during our holiday. The jewelers name is Diamond World, and I frequent this shop, particular one sales assistant for years. If you are interested in his name, I can gladly share.
The setting is made of 5.6 Gramm gold and 0.2 ct. diamonds. To tell the truth, I don’t know the specs of the diamond, but I guess F-G color, VS-SI clarity, the stones are one pointers.

Thanks for sharing this @dkata !!
I love chique and fabulous rings that do not have a matching price. It’s great that you have found a trusted jeweller who can create high quality settings with original designs on a budget.

This is my second gem to be set. The garnet is from Westview Gems and it was set in 14k rose gold ‘Lily’ by JuliaB. I’m so very happy with how it came out and the simplicity of the setting. It will be an occasional wear ring. Here are a few photos from different lighting. It can go dark but also quite vibrant, depending on the angles. This light was from a window during early morning and partly cloudy.

That's a beautiful hot pinky purple! May I ask what kind of garnet that is?

Thank you! She really did a wonderful job and I appreciate the gem being the star of the setting. I will take another picture later to show the side profile.

Oh no what are you doing to me! It’s so gorgeous I must have one! =)2
Congratulations on a great setting too!

Would you by any chance also have the vendor pic? I usually find their website pictures a bit dark but maybe that’s just their style of photography.

Does reusing a setting you have qualify? Even if I hadn’t, what I originally paid for the ring and my new stone was well under 1250.

The setting came from a Leigh Jay Nacht ring I had acquired pre-loved. I repurposed the original diamond for a pendant I’m having made. So, I was looking for a stone to take its place when Mastercut Gems held its Spring sale.

Here it is with the 5.2mm Montana sapphire I purchased for a replacement stone. Love all the shades of blue! :kiss2:

I've been trying to curb my spending on jewelry and focus on setting what I have without spending a fortune. Its scary how these small projects add up :eek2:

First up..I bought this setting for $225. It was missing the center pair of diamonds. So I had my jeweler set some inexpensive native cut 4mn sapphires I had picked from Gene at Precision Gem ($29/pair) and paid my jeweler $125 to size, redo the bezels and set the sapphires. Sold to me as 14k but my jeweler had a nice surprise..it's platinum!
$380 total

IMG_20180512_133415.jpg
Next up is a 5.1ct 9.73 mm asscher cut amethyst from Christiane Morin purchased for $175. Set in a new 14k mount with side diamonds. $550 including a replacing the head to hold the stone. Total $725
IMG_20180512_133805.jpg

Next up is a Merelini Mint garnet faceted by Gene. It's 1.3 ct 6.7 mm..has inclusions but great color for $200. I set it in in a preloved custom setting from Green Lake Jewelry Works purchased for $300 from another PSer. Add $100 to set and resize (the rings are soldered so my jeweler had to take them apart to size and the resolder). Total $600.
IMG_20180512_133253.jpg

The above setting originally held a California tourmaline from Earth's Treasury. I put it in this neclace charm from my jeweler scrap pile for $100
IMG_20180512_151735.jpg
Not a bargain but under $1250. I had this small blue Namibian tourmaline from Vance that I was going to make into a stack ring..but it didn't go with my other stacker stones so had it set in this 18k setting. Total $450
IMG_20180512_134233.jpg
Finally, despite my determination to just use what I had, I couldn't resist this cute 14k mop(?) Flower ring. It was $200. I didn't even ask what the blue stones (3mm each( were because my plan is to have Yvonne take it to Tucson to look for replacements (thinking green garnet out stones with a neon pink spinel in the middle...thoughts?)

Those are great! Love the twin sapphire ring and the MOP ring. I wonder if those are Zircons in it now? I really like the unity of one color of gem inside, because the carved petals are a focus already, but that’s just my taste. I can easily imagine different tones of the same hue though, such as darker green on the outside and lighter in the center. What ever you have set in it, it will beautiful. Great finds!

Thank you..and you may be right..when I first saw the ring, I just grabbed it because of the setting and cost..assuming the stones were topaz or aqua...but now that I have it home, the stones are so sparkly that they may be zircons (and admittedly I am enjoying it as is as a result).

Thank you theredspinel and Rubybrick!

I couldn't resist the MOP ring...my jeweler had it in a tray of older inexpensive inventory that he wanted to get rid of. He brought it out to see if there were any rings I might want for the settings.

The sapphire ring setting was a charity donation...my cousin made me aware of it last year because she fell in love with it and knows I have loose stones. She was pretty sure it was platinum although the handwritten store tag said 14k. I passed because she couldn't tell me anything about it (weight, size of missing stones, etc) and it sat there unsold. In March, she told me the store was having a special fund raising event so I told her to buy it for me figuring worse case it was a donation to a good cause. It was a mess when it arrived and at first, I was glad I didn't pay more. But once my jeweler fixed the bezels, cleaned it up and confirmed it was platinum, I was doing a major happy dance.

The sad part is that I like having variety too much and don't have the patience to save for higher end pieces that I drool over here.
