Hi everyone, I am debating one choosing one diamond from these two:

The G-color one is True Hearts, but F is not. They also look different in the video. The F-color one does not look quite impressive although the report and idealscopes are nice.

Price:
F, 1.288 carat, VS1, HCA score 1.3: $10560
G, 1.36 carat, VS1, HCA score 1.1: $11180

Which one is a better choice? Could you please give me some suggestions? Thank you!

I’m not expert but my eye prefers the G diamond. Looks crisp and clear.

Both are nice. Go with whichever makes more sense to you (color, price, carat weight). Tough one.

Totally agree. Both are quite nice

Slightly less body color, or slightly larger?
Hmmm.
Personally, I'd go for the F; also I like to support AGS more than GIA.
IMO AGS is more consmer-oriented when grading cut than is GIA with their so-called "EXCELLENT" cut category that lets in steep-deeps. :knockout:

Thank you! I think that's why the G color one is True Hearts. The F color one is not, but it also has great specs in cut. I cannot explain why it looks wired in the video. I have held both and am debating.

F, sorry cause it has the AGS.

Thank you! Both proportions are great. The hearts pattern idealscope shows the G color one (if you open its link) has a little better internal symmetry. But I personally cannot tell whether there is some light performance difference.

Thank you! Is there a visible difference between F and G colors? I have not compared these two colors side by side so I have no idea. It seems the G color one has a little better internal symmetry, which gives it a little better cut. I'd take some more time to consider...

I honestly don’t think you’ll see a color difference between these at this size. GIA is a little stricter with color grades as well so who knows what the actual color difference would be. All of that aside, my eye prefers the G.

Yes, of course.
If there was no visible difference all and Fs and Gs would fall into the same color grade.

There is even variation of body color within a color grade, less in grades near D and more in grades approaching Z.
One G can be closer to F, while another G can be closer to H.
Blame nature. ;))

IMO that's why GIA should drop the 23 D-Z letter designations and change to grading body color on a scale from 0 to 100.
Then we'd have 4 times the precision and the industry could just price them using simple arithmetic.

That said D-Z diamond are graded loose, upside down, and looking into the pavilion - not the way we see them.
We look into the top.
But some settings allow viewing from the side where, in some lighting, in some environments, some viewers may detect a color difference.
Some folks can't stand any body color, while others prefer warmer diamonds.

Many things affect the ability to see diamond body color.
But again there IS a visible difference between F and G.
Whether you or anyone else will detect it in real life is harder to answer.

Also the greater light return of a better-cut diamond helps to hide body color when viewed face up.

Thank you for the informative reply!

I am curious about how different the actual light performances would be of these two diamonds, although they look quite different in the video. I not sure whether the boosted brilliance and fire in the G color diamond will outweigh the color difference.

G, in my opinion. The AGS graded F may be closer to a G any way. I have a F and a G right now and both are GIA and I can barely see any difference. You’ll notice the bigger size a lot more.

The G looks so much sparklier than the F. I would choose the G.

Thank you! Great to know.
