Hello all :wavey:
I am a long time lurker. Thanks in advance for all your help :)
All things being equal - 0.9 ct AGS triple 0, hearts and arrows, would you go down to an eye clean (unless looking very closely) SI2 to get the F colour, or stick to an eye clean H SI1?
Both are the same price
Also- would it change things if you were setting them with E-F colour tapered baguettes on the side?
Thanks so much!!

Are they cut identically? Cos I would go for the best cut and then probably the best clarity one. I would prefer to not see things in my diamonds if I can help it (which is currently stopping me buying the nicest rose cut ruby target ring because it has visible inclusions in a wee cluster *sob*)

Would really depend on how that SI2 looked for me...

What are the diameters of each?

If they are both otherwise identical and "eye clean", I would take the color upgrade. However, I think it really depends on the inclusions, sometimes "eye clean" is a relative term. Sometimes inclusions can affect optical performance.

You do not want your side stones to outshine your center stone, so I would be careful having an H directly next to a E/F.

Let us see the proportions and photos : D
It's hard to vote just based on limited data

:)Thank you!!

They are both Brian Gavins so both a very good cut

F SI2 0.927ct
6.26 x 6.31 x 3.83 mm
AGS 000
Table % 57.8
Depth % 60.8
Crown Angle 34.50
Star % 52.00
Pav Angle 40.80
Lower Girdle % 76.00000
Flourescence Negligible
Girdle Thin to Medium Faceted

vs

H SI1 0.918 ct
6.23 x 6.25 x 3.86 mm
AGS 000
Table % 55.2
Depth % 61.9
Crown Angle 34.90
Star % 53.00
Pav Angle 40.80
Lower Girdle % 77.00000
Flourescence Negligible
Girdle Thin to Medium Faceted

Thanks!!!

Both ASETs are beautiful. And both are eye clean (brilliance and sparkle vids are gorgeous). Given your setting with E-F baguettes, I'd lean more towards the F SI2.

Thanks guys!!! Argh it seems to be a 50-50 split of everyone I've asked. Decisions decisions >_<

May I ask if YOU have seen them? If you are anywhere near Houston, you should consider going to look with YOUR eyes.

Specifically NOT referring to either of these diamonds as per forum rules, I will say that putting a G or an H next to E-F colored tapered baguettes is not going to be any kind of a problem at all. With the dazzle and sparkle coming from a well cut round, the color of the baguettes will be completely lost by comparison. The tapered baguettes will have a tasteful elegance that will enhance yet not compete with the brilliance of the round.

Sparkles can hide anything, hence the lighting in jewelry stores. I think cut is extremely important, but I am not in the camp that relies on sparkles to hide color/clarity issues. If there is a color difference between the center and side stones, some may notice. Not every part of the stone will be sparkling all the time in every light. I will not go too much into whether an E/F next to a H is notable difference, but I do think that color differences are most noticeable when the stones are side by side, which they are in this sort of setting. Of course with out seeing the stones in the setting under different lighting conditions it is just a guess by anybody whether that is the case here. Some people are more sensitive to color differences than others. Am I talking about a DRAMATIC difference, probably not to most of the general population, but an E/F next to an F is safer than a E/F next to an H...and we are talking the center stone being of the lower color grade than the sides.

Wow, you guys are awesome, thank you!!
Unfortunately I'm in Australia so seeing the stones in person won't be possible for me :(
Wow that Whiteflash diamond is so much cheaper for a better colour !
In general how does Whiteflash compare to Brian Gavin in terms of cut?
This is for an up grade to my current diamond so I want to get it right first (second?) time and not be fretting about if I could've got a better cut IYKWIM!

ACA and BG Signature are of the same cut quality. In fact, Brian used to work at WF and helped develop the ACA line before branching off and starting his own company!

For the same price, I'd do the WF G SI1 all day long.

From one Aussie to another, you're making the right choice by buying from the States compared to locally. :)

WF's upgrade policy is better than BGD's (and I say this even though I am a BGD fanboy). Cut quality of both stones is equal. As ac117 has mentioned, Brian was one of the founders of WF before he moved on to start his own company. Only reason why I'm more partial to BGD is because of their Brian Gavin Signature Blue line which features fluorescent stones.

Thanks so much all :) I ended up going with th H SI1, it is beautiful. Thanks to everyone to responded

Wonderful! Any pictures?!

Argh I can't believe that in all my excitement I didn't get any pictures of the loose diamond before I took it to the jeweler to have it set!!!! Kicking myself. I'll post pictures when I have it back in a few weeks :)

Hello all, I know it's been a little while but I just wanted to come back to post a photo of my ring :) thanks again for helping me decide. 0.918ct H SI1 BGD signature. The tapered baguettes ended up being G-H colour, 0.15ct, set by Holloway Diamonds. I really love the end result :kiss2: (sorry it was a windy day so my hair got in the way of the photo)

It turned out beautifully!!! Congrats!!! :appl:

Turned out beautiful! Congrats!

I can not imagine noticing the color difference in the setting, I doubt anyone could ever see it, so for me I think it's a non issue. I would go with the SI1, I have a beautiful SI2, but it's definitely risky. My stone is also very small and the feather could be covered by a prong.

Your ring and diamond are gorgeous. Congratulations.

Thank you all:oops2::kiss2:

It's turned out beautifully
