Hi Eveyone -

I waned to get your opinion on Color. I have my eye on a 2.1 Ct Round - the specs are below. I have dropped down to a G to stay within budget for the size range I am targeting.

My FF is Asian, and I am concerned that her complextion might enhance the faint tint I would get with the G color. I am also concerned tha the G color might be more noticable in this stone vs. one that is smaller. Should I feel comfortable that this stone will appear near colorless when mounted face up? Or should I consider a F with a lower clarity?

I realize this comes down to personal preference, but wanted to get your thoughts.

Round Brilliant
2.1 Ct.
GIA Ideal EX/EX/EX
Table - 56%
Depth - 61.1%
Crown Angle - 35 Degrees
Pavilion Depth - 40.6 Degrees
HCA - .8
Color - G
Clarity - VS1

Thanks!

Hi Indecisive

The diamond has definite possibilities, a G to me even of this size is extremely white, I can't detect any tint at all but if you think you or your GF might then maybe look at F or better. If it is online if you could get an Idealscope image of the stone that would help, also if you ordered it make sure there is a return policy to give you time to inspect it thoroughly.

G should look white.
F is of course better, but lower clarity isn''t a good idea for Asian people.
Most of my Vietnamese friends here have VVS diamonds.
But Phoenix, who is a Vietnamese pricescope member, has some very nice J-VS2 earrings.

I agree, an IS, and/or Sarin report would be nice to have, but it''s certainly got potential!

As for color, G is safe at almost any size and shape, in a well cut stone, for all but the very highly color sensitive people. It''s at the top of near colorless, so there''s really not much tint to speak of. I think it would look very nice on your girl, and face up very white.

Here''s a great video on diamond color, I think this might help ease your hesitation. Great face up shot at the end.

Hey Indecisive,
Just my two cents... I''m Puerto Rican with a deep olivey/yellow skin tone and I have an H diamond.
If anything, my skin tone makes my diamond look startingly white. The contrast is great.
The only time I EVER EVER see any slight tint to my stone whatsoever is from the side occasionally in my office.

I think you would be quite happy with the G, and I think you''re girl would be very happy with all the thought you have put into this.
