extremely thin girdle Tiffany's OEC help

I have purchased a Tiffany's OEC ring in a 6 prong setting. The diamond does not have Tiffany's inscription, only the mounting. Seller said there is no nick and chip. I have done a little research on Pricescope and it seems that the best bet to protect the girdle is to have the ring set in a bezel setting.

I will keep it in the original 6 prong solitaire setting. So should I keep the ring? I have small toddlers and I tend to not be careful with my valuables.

Also, would my insurance go up because of the extremely thin girdle that is prone to damage?

I am going to receive it this Thursday and I have a few days to inspect.

Thanks you all

I figured this thread has no image...and I like reading thread with images

I bought this today from JBEG:

In short: I have purchased one RB ( https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/is-this-diamond-up-to-pss-standard-idealscope-attached.189457/#post-3451649#p3451649) and this OEC

I am very torn between these two. I am going to receive the RB on Wed and the OEC on Thursday

Things I like about this OEC:
1. It's a nice color OEC
2. It seems like a piece of history to me, OEC and Tiffany
3. It's already set in a 6 prong solitaire which I would have my diamond set in on either one.

Things that draw me back:
1. extremely thin girdle
2. I am not sure if the diamond is also from Tiffany. I contacted Tiffany and not to my surprise since I had read a post on here before, Tiffany would not do anything unless I was the original purchaser. So no appraisal, no resize...

So what do you all think? I know that I might not give enough information and right now I am very...lost. I am hoping that maybe you all can shed some light , maybe something that I have not thought of

Since there is no way to know if the stone is original to the ring, you need to consider the price based on it having a Tiffany setting and a non-Tiffany OEC. If you love the stone, then you can send it for girdle rehab so it will be more suitable to wear. But you will need to insure any diamond if you don't want to have to pay out of pocket to replace it in case of loss or damage. I'd just choose the diamond you like best and go from there. Girdle rehab will cost a couple hundred to a few hundred when you factor in shipping, etc.

Thanks for reading my long post :D

I didnt know such a thing as "girdle rehab", I googled but I couldnt find any info. So do I bring the ring to my local jeweler and ask for it?

JbEG can even do it for you.

I imagine part of the pricing takes in consideration that it is at least a Tiffany setting so I would want to keep it in the setting. Just because it has a thin girdle does not mean that it will be necessarily prone to chipping. I would make sure I carried insurance on the ring and wear it. If it's a mind clean thing and you'll baby it too much and worry, then get the girdle rehabbed.

Did Grace or Erica tell you the girdle is too thin and a risk of chipping? They will know. And if the answer is "yes" then they can likely have the girdle faceted for you to make it safe to wear.

Ditto.

And by the way, I highly doubt the stone and mount are originally a pair. The diamond was likely cut in the 1930s to early 1950s (just based on its make) and that mount looks like a much more recent version of the Tiffany solitaire. It looks like the mount is from the last 15 years, maybe 20 years, to me. A little perusing of Tiffany historic photos would tell you the answer for sure. But I would not factor the Tiffany name into your valuation.

Thankssss so much for your input. I was hesitate to put JBEG in the first post since I had a feeling they are loved here.

I am going to discuss more with Grace

Well, I doubt the Tiffany brand is affecting the asking price anyways.

I think so too. Im pretty sure Grace is firm on price. She has been such a sweet heart helping me while I am lost

Do you think it's a fair price, taking Tiffany brand out of consideration? and what do you think of the diamond?

Thanks
