How will this extra facet affect this round brillant diamond? Judging from the diagram, how big of an extra facet is it? will it be noticeable? does it affect the cost in anyway?
Also, how can a diamond have a GIA symmetry rating of Excellent if it has an extra facet? Seems to me, having an extra facet is the definition of not being symmetrical. Am I wrong here?
I do not get how it could still rate EX for symmetry?
You would not see any diffrence with your eye, but you would want the stone to be a few% cheaper - it will cost you the same if you ever try to sell it.
On the plot i looks like just a sliver, probably very difficult to see through a loupe and so could still get a low excellent symmetry. It wouldn''t affect the stone under normal viewing conditions at all.
