Hi there,
http://www.goodoldgold.com/diamond/8399/
1.53 GSI1 $16,800US
I am desperately seeking thoughts on this. I just received this GORGEOUS stone from GOG. Absolutely stunning in every way - beautiful colour, sparkle, cut and eye clean (and easily pronged). I love it!! PERFECT............ BUT................
I have one concern though that has put made me uncomfortable so i am seeking advice.
If you look at the plot, there appears to be an external cavity on the girdle? or is it the crown or pav? i cant tell?? Anyway, i can feel it slightly when I run my nail along the girdle line. Should I be worried about that?
Is it normal to feel the cavity? It almost feels like a chip or nick in the stone. GOG have advised that there is no concern and it can be set under a prong to protect it even further. What do you think?
It is listed third on the inclusion listing.
Also, GOG advised that there is a feather that reaches the surface which is considered to be a healed inclusion meaning that the surface inside the inclusion is smooth and not jagged, preventing it from spreading further. Jon has advised that he is completely confident that the inclusion will not post an issue in the future unless the diamond is subjected to a major trauma or accident.
the feather is listed as the first inclusion on the report. It has also been recommended to cover this with a prong (but I have read mixed opinions about a prong potentailly placing more pressure on the feather??) I know there are some opinions where feathers are regarded as 'cracks' so your thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
The stone has a lifetime policy, so I doubt such a stone would have this if there were any concerns. I trust GOG so there are no issues there - it is why I decided to buy from them. I just cant help but feel apprehensive about such a big purchase. If my stone cracked as a result of these inclusions, I would be devastated.
Do you think the external cavity on the girdle or the healed feather that breaks the surface are a concern?
I am also concerned about a setter and may send it back to GOG for setting in case of any issues.
please note, the certificate copy on the actual AGS website is much clearer than the certificate attached to the GOG website where you can hardly see the plotted inclusions for some reaosns. Please refer to the AGS website to see the inclusions more clearly.
What are your thoughts please??
