Expert opinion on an AGA-CERT diamond

I am a newbie at this and am looking at a 1.20ct diamond with the following AGA-CERT specs:

Round
1.20ct
6.90x6.87x4.21
Depth: 61.1%
Table: 55.2%
Very small culet
Slightly thin girdle
Crown angle 33.6
F color
S1
1B AGA Cut
Exc Polish
Exc Symmetry

I really have no idea if this is a good diamond or not and whether the price range is accurate. I think the jeweler said $7500-8000 for the loose stone.

I would appreciate any feedback. Thanks.

I am pretty sure that is what is says, 41.6. I am assuming the pavilion angle is the angle from the girdle to the culet, correct?

Yes indeed. The pavilion angle is steep enough that it could adversely affect performance, there is a good possibility of light leakage and other issues. Have you any other diamonds in mind?

Seems odd that a pavilion angle that would allow light leakage shouldn''t get a 1B grade from AGA but I really am clueless on this stuff. LOL.

I assume $7500 is too much to spend on that diamond?

Generally to fit that crown angle 40.7 - 41 degrees thereabouts. It happens also depending on what method you use for evaluation, try running the numbers through the Holloway Cut Advisor also.

I have seen the stone and it looks nice to my eye and my GF saw it and liked it too. But then again we are newbies to this and not diamond experts. So a "shiny" diamond to us could be a dull diamond to an expert, I guess.

I just want to make sure I am not getting taken for a ride on this diamond at that price and then have it appraised and find out I bought a $5000 diamond for $7500.

Then you have definitely come to the right place!!!
Keep reading in the knowledge section and the forum, and get feedback on stones you are considering and you will lessen the likelihood of that happening dramatically
