I am new to pricescope and I was hoping someone out there can help me. My soon to-be fiancée is stressed out over choosing the right diamond for her. She is torn between two seemingly perfect diamonds. She has emailed the company many times to try and choose the right diamond. She has stressed herself too much to the point where she is currently sick with a cold. :(sad I am hoping whatever opinions I can get here I can reassure her that she is choosing the right diamond for her. She wants to wear the diamond for life. She has told me many times she does not want to trade in her diamond for a "better" one later.

These are the two diamonds. She was told by the company the 2nd diamond is better in terms of the idealscope but the 0.733 has the better aset.

Please help me out. I don't want to buy a diamond that she will regret later. ;( She's very detailed oriented and has told me she really wants the hearts and arrows to show.

Between these two which is the better diamond? Or are they equal?

Thank you.

The hearts and arrows are not going to be all that apparent in real life viewing unless you carry around a hearts and arrows viewer! But superideal cut stones are beautiful and both of these will be beautiful.

First, the stones are two color grades different. One is 5.8mm and the other 6mm. Are these the only two stones that she will consider? Will she look at other vendors if there are not better options at BG? Because maybe there is a good H color stone out there, for example. I'd really want closer to 6mm, but I would rather not pay for VVS clarity on the I color stone. You could either go with a larger I color or an H that is larger than the G stone.

I know some diamonds you can clearly see the hearts and arrows but I understand. Thanks.

This is a larger H color stone but the inclusions worry her. She can also see the inclusions when she views the diamond on the site. She knows that it's magnified but I guess it bothers her?

I think she has looked and there are no better diamonds at this company. She is what she calls a mind-clean person and prefers staying in the VS1 as the lowest clarity grade. She also does not like too many inclusions... Unfortuntely this company doesn't have a larger I or H color stone. ;( I think she will be willing to consider another diamond if she finds that one much better than those two so any other suggestions?

Thank you.

If you use the HCA Tools here and plug in all of the numbers for each of your stone I noticed that :

0.733 G VS1 Hearts and Arrows Round
Factor Grade
Light Return Excellent
Fire Excellent
Scintillation: Excellent
Spread
or diameter for weight Very Good
Total Visual Performance 1.6 - Excellent
within TIC range

0.800 I VVS2 Hearts and Arrows Round
Factor Grade
Light Return Excellent
Fire Excellent
Scintillation : Very Good
Spread
or diameter for weight Very Good
Total Visual Performance 1.4 - Excellent
within TIC range

So according to HCA one of your choice has Scintillation Excellent vs Very Good. Hope that helps you both.
scin·til·la·tion: noun: a flash or sparkle of light.
the process or state of emitting flashes of light.

So it's better to get the smaller diamond then? I know you're not technically supposed to rely on the HCA to finalize your decision on your diamond because it doesn't take into account many other factors... Someone else told me she would notice the size difference first before the sparkle. Is this true? I like the aset image for the smaller diamond because it's symmetrical compared to the bigger diamond but I do want to get the best, biggest one I can for her. :wall:

Is this one any better? It's a little bit out of my budget though....

Yes it is true that you should not use HCA alone for your final decision. Since she will be the one wearing it, I would ask her what her preference is. A slightly bigger stone but possibly less sparkle or a slightly smaller stone but more sparkle. If you pick the one she likes based on the two then I think that she will be happy with it. If it was more of a difference then maybe but for a .013 difference and plus $1200 I do not think it is a good idea. The final decision is up to you both and as long as your are both happy with your choice then I think that is the important thing.
