Hi, I pretty much decided to get this stone:

http://www.jamesallen.com/diamond.asp?find=1&cid=130&item=1132399

Can you please validate my decision? Can you find a similar stone some place else with the same spread, eye clean, etc? It gets 0.7 on HCA.

The stone is GIA graded. In the picture I can see arrows, is it possible it''s an H&A stone? Can you tell from this picture?
Thanks!

I love the stats of your diamond, and the picture looks promising.
You should have bold arrows of fire, and a nice spread!
Just ask if it''s really eye clean.
Good luck!

Wow, that was a fast response! Thanks! JA says it''s eye clean.

Is $13k a good price for this stone?

I don''t know for the price.
Ask him if there is any inclusion near the surface, I don''t know why but I have a doubt when looking at the inclusion plot.
That''s my only concern.
The proportions are perfect for my taste.
Sorry for my bad English!

Hi cectra,

It''s definitely got potential, but without an IS pic, I can''t really say anymore. The numbers look good, need to ask if eyeclean if you haven''t already.

And just be aware of their upgrade policy, should that be a future consideration.

"is it possible it''s an H&A stone?"

You shouldn''t worry about that, the pictures shows a perfect symmetry, and GIA symmetry and polish are Excellent. Go for it if it''s really eye clean!

I missed the H&A question. My thinking is, from looking at their stones in the past, if it was, it would be indicated as such, and have an IS pic for it. But that does not mean it can''t be a beautiful stone.

They promised to get me an IS picture whenever their NY sotre opens for business after the Pass Over. I think she said on April 28th? Not sure since Pass Over is already over...

Their upgrade policy is ok with me. If we go for an upgrade in the future, it''ll be at least double the price anyway. Besides, I figured with the prices on diamonds climbing, it will not be difficult. And it may never happen either.

So I guess there are no alternatives out there? :)

Thanks so much!!!

I''d be happy to look, if you gave me the specs you''d consider, along with a price range.

Sorry, my bad! All my friends celebrated it over the weekend, and I guess for them it''s over... Never assume anything... :)

Oh that would be great! I''m looking for 1.6-1.8 F (I saw several G''s and I could definitely see the color). Eye clean. Ideal (of course!) cut. My budget is $15000 preferably for both the diamond and the setting. On the setting, I''m going custom, and I have two quotes from local jewelers, about $1200 - 1350.

I should explain why I liked this stone so much. For the carat weight, it had a very good spread, I think. Most other stones with this diameter I saw were 1.7''s and they were more money.

I would pay all $15k for a stone if it was a trully spectacular buy. (even more, but don''t tell my husband! LOL)

I appreciate your help!

It looks like you''ve got the only one to fit everything. So if eyeclean, you''ve found your stone!

Ha-ha! Thanks for looking for me!
I will definitely order it to make sure it''s eye clean to me, they say it is. Then I''ll send it back to have it set. Is it $40 worth spent on shipping the stone? Or is it going to be more?

I have no idea what shipping would run, sorry.

Ellen, I love your diamond, and I really love the setting. What is it? I''m looking for a custom piece sort of like it. I''m not imagining side stones flush set, am I?

Yes, actually you are imagining the side stones. It''s just a simple solitaire, the D''Vatche X-Prong. Here''s my latest thread with some pics. There''s more pics on the second page.

Ellen, I just finished reading your thread, and enjoying all the pictures. Your ring is gorgeous!!! The pics are great! I wish I could take such great pictures...

I found A Jaffe setting 17II1 which is sort of similar to yours, and has euro shank I''m in love with. The only thing is, JA doesn''t carry this brand either. Bummer! I''ll keep looking...
