Few pet birds get all of the care they need.
The problem is many of their needs are not obvious to even the smartest person.

One need is helping birds preen their heads.
They can't do it because their beaks cannot reach their heads.
But it's not easy or obvious how to do this.
Here's the best video I've ever seen on this obscure topic!

Awwww. I helped my girl Ziggy Louise with preening. It was a wonderfully trusting and bonding time. I felt content or at peace looking into her wee brown eyes in those moments.
I miss her so much.
Fly free Zeelo.

Thank you @kenny. Thank you.

Begonia, sorry to bring up your loss. :(sad
I admit I had forgotten.

My SO at the time Told me I cried 10 times as much when my previous parrot died than when my dear mom died.

It's ok friend, the video is wonderful to see, thank you for sharing it. Birds are magical creatures, and befriending and loving my Zee was truly an honor.

It must have been a terrible loss for you @kenny. I'd love to see a photo of your beloved, if you're willing to share one.

Here's my Senegal parrot, Puppy.
RIP

I named him Puppy because my dog-loving SO didn't care much for birds, hoping he'd take a shine to him.
It worked.

I wish I got a pic of him laying on his back and playing with a Q-Tip.
He would do that for nearly an hour.
I mean Puppy did that, not my SO.
