I've noticed a few posts mentioning that an "excellent" cut is very, very important when purchasing a rb. would people recommend NOT purchasing a rb w/ a vg cut? if so - I would love to know why so that I understand bf purchasing. thank you!
Depends on what causes the VG. If it is just the crown and pavilion angles, there are some GIA VG combination that I would prefer over Ex. If it is due to overly thick/thin girdle, then yes, I would prefer an Ex as a starting point.
I think it makes people more secure buying over internet with the diamond sight unseen.
I have an AGS Ideal and compared it to my friend's GIA Very good and we couldn't see a difference. Maybe a jeweller could, but we honestly could not...
Of course, this was only one situation. YOu could check through old posts on this subject and see what people had to say.
