euro shank

anyone have a ring with such a shank? do you like or dislike it? does it really help with a large stone turning on your finger? any opinions from ''''the industry'''' pricescopers?

I''ve seen many rings with the european shank and I can honestly say I think they are pretty great. They really do help with spinning and fit nice and comfortably on the finger, despite the fact that they look kinda strange to me! I recommend them!

when you say strange, you mean when viewed off of the finger? or does it look weird when on the finger? i know stupid question, but i had to ask.

I had one on my solitaire (I say "had" b/c I traded in that setting for something different) and it definitely kept the ring from spinning. My stone was only 1ct, so far from "large"

. It was very comfortable as well.

also, when i look at them on the internet i can''t tell if the side of thank is thinner and/or narrower.

My previous setting had a Euro shank, and it was awesome. I had NO spinning problems. I don''t think it looked odd at all on my finger. The square corners disappear. I didn''t think about it when I changed settings, and spin set in immediately. The only reason I would consider not getting a Euro shank in the future is if I was pairing it with an eternity band. The insdes would be pretty different. That said, the insides of my current rings are pretty different, and it doesn''t bother me, and I may do a new setting for my e-ring next year, and will still consider a Euro shank, even tho it will go with an eternity band.

Just that I think it looks a little strange off the finger. You know, the idea of a "squared" ring sort of thing! But i''ve tried them on and you can''t tell at all (unless you flip your hand over) that the wearer has a squared shank. Looks all the same from the top. Like I said, I''d go for it.

Yup, that is it. And to answer another poster''s question - they do tend to be thinner in width as the shank squares off and descends to the bottom of the ring. Most of the time, that is. I have seen a few where the ring is the same width all around.

re the picture: research online has shown the ''square'' look as minimal to exagerated.....there are even plain bands with euro shanks.

My rings have euroshanks. I love them. But they don''t prevent them from spinning...I just think they are too big for me. If sized correctly, I would agree they probably help reduce the spin factor. At least that is what everyone tells me
