I''ve recently been shopping for a Eternity/Uternity Wedding Band. What I''m looking for is a pretty standard setting (either classic eterntiy or uternity) in Platinum with 15 point diamonds in a size 6.25. I''ve been told that the ring will likely require approximately 20 diamonds. I''m also looking for ideal cut stones, G color, Si1 clarity. What I''m finding strange is the price difference in the quotes I''ve been received and I''m confused! The first quote a I recieved is from a jeweler in the ''Jeweler''s Building'' in Boston (333 Washington Street) - the quote was for $3,800. The second quote I received is from a Pricescope jeweler (who I have previously purchased jewelry from and am satisfied with) - the quote was for $6,500. I know that when buying jewelry it''s important to buy someone who you trust but with such a wide price disparity, I''m not sure what to think. Can someone please let me know what is a reasonable price that someone should expect to pay for what I''m looking for? Does anyone have any experience buying at from any jeweler at 333 Washington Street in Boston?

Thanks in advance for your help - I really appreciate your advice!

I''d start getting some quotes from online vendors. I''d call up whiteflash.com and leon mege (artofplatinum.com). There can be a large desparity in prices depending on the quality of benchwork, how well the stones are cut, etc. Whiteflash has incredibly well-cut melee and reasonable prices, leon has the best metal work I''ve ever seen.

I guess what I''m asking is if cut makes a huge difference in 15 point stones?

Depends on the disparity.

If you're comparing very good makes with excellent makes, probably not.

If you're comparing fair makes with excellent makes, yes there's a noticeable difference.
